“Beloved Community”
The Rev. Jennifer Nordstrom
Alissa Rhode, Lead Music Director
Jeff Pearcy, Worship Associate

“Beloved Community” begs the question of “beloved to whom?”. For the theologians who developed the term, part of the answer was “Beloved to God,” building on the Universalist concept that all human beings are universally beloved of God. In 21st Century Unitarian Universalist communities, there are a variety of beliefs about God, and a shared commitment to love one another. What happens when we shift the responsibility of the Beloved Community from God, to ourselves? How do we work to become the Beloving Community?

SUNDAY MORNING FORUM AT 11:00 A.M.

Police Accountability, presented by George Martin, Co-Founder Milwaukee Martin Luther King Justice Coalition, member of Peace Action Wisconsin and 350.org.

Police accountability was brought to the forefront globally with the arrest/death of George Floyd on May 25th last year. Since then, well over 115 Black people have been killed by police in the US. Over two decades ago, the FBI stated that the rate of Black murders has not changed since the end of the Civil War when the roots of policing began. We’ll talk about issues such as “the bad apple in the barrel,” Black Lives Matter, and current initiatives such as defunding policing policies and practices as we move toward national transformative change. On Zoom & YouTube Live HERE

COVID CANDLE ON SUNDAYS. Because of the ways our lives are touched by loss and grief during the global pandemic, we have a simple ritual during Sunday worship called the “COVID Candle” when it is needed. During this unique time, when people cannot gather with their family and community to mourn, we offer to light the COVID Candle for any death of a loved one of one of our members. If you have had a loved one die from COVID-19, or any other cause of death, and would like the COVID Candle lit in their honor during Sunday worship, please contact one of the Ministers.
