Dear St. Louis families,
March certainly came roaring in like a lion this week! Not only did we start a new month, but we also shift to focus on the virtue of respect, recognizing and acknowledging the dignity of one another. We even got some great tips from the Sesame Street gang on how to respect one another! All this week, as well, students have been working with their teachers and Mrs. Cotnoir, our school counselor, to connect the virtue of respect, with our SEL goal of thinking of others’ needs before our own—it is always a great day when we can help our students live out our promises of Lent through their actions and words. Perhaps in your own homes, you might notice some ways students are practicing these skills.
We are looking forward to some warmer weather next week and with that, the opportunity to be outside more with our classes. We are blessed with some great green spaces for outside learning opportunities as well as space to move and play. March is always a tricky month with the weather but please know students are going outside as often as they can, so please ensure they are dressing properly for the day with appropriate outerwear.
Please know that 2nd trimester concludes Friday, March 12th and report cards will be sent home with students along with their mid-year Scantron or HMH assessment data on March 18th with Blue Team members or March 22nd for White Team members. Virtual students will receive an electronic copy of the 2nd trimester report card by email. We have been monitoring the current situation with regard to the pandemic and the hope of getting more students into the building for some instruction. Our re-opening plan was created for the academic school year and will remain in effect for the duration of the 2020-2021 school year at 6 feet spacing. There are several logistical sticking points that make it difficult to change our course at this time; in an effort, to be safe, we will continue as is and seek to adjust on a case-by-case basis for students with diagnosed learning needs. We recognize that in-person instruction is the best form of instruction but also understand we must be prudent with everyone’s safety, health, and wellness. Our focus is on getting every student back into the brick and mortar building next academic school year for 5 days. I know that every family is enduring the hardships created by this pandemic and the fatigue from it is real---we have made it this far and have been successful because we are in this together--#BetterTogether---there is a light, and we are incredibly grateful for your patience, your grace, and your flexibility.
Pray for all of those within our community who endure hardship, challenge, and heavy personal crosses---may each family find peace, comfort, and strength through the blessing of faith.
