The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has instructed the Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) to hold all claims with dates of services beginning on or after April 1, 2021 for a short period of time without affecting a providers' cash flow. This move is in anticipation of the expected Congressional action to extend the 2% sequestration reduction suspension.
This hold will minimize the amount of claims that MACs would have to reprocess once Congress extends the current sequestration reduction suspension. If necessary, the MACs will automatically reprocess any Medicare claims that were paid with the sequestration reduction applied.
