Immigration Committee Request
We have a sponsor and young Guatemalan man who need housing as soon as possible. The sponsor is a PhD candidate at UC Berkeley, whose landlords decided to sell their house. He is a wonderful, perfectly-matched sponsor (has lived on & off in Guatemala and started his own nonprofit there) who is committed to providing housing for our recently-arrived friend. An ideal setup would be with someone who has a back house or empty rooms, who understands the situation and is willing to offer below-market rent as an act of solidarity. They are looking for: reasonable rent - sponsor's price range is $800-$1,400, but the upper end of that range would be a hardship. Two rooms would be ideal, in Oakland or Berkeley. Please spread the word, and email the sponsor, Michael, michaelbakal@gmail.com with possibilities. Both individuals are wonderfully warm, positive, energetic, and conscientious.
