Dear Parents and Guardians of Presentation of Mary Community-

The first month of the school year is coming to an end. Hard to believe, but there was a good amount of activity during the month. We would like to highlight the 8 th grade. We commissioned the 8 th grade students as leaders of the school for 2019-2020. The commissioning took place at the children’s mass on September 18 th . Students received a certificate of leadership, which stated their responsibilities. The certificate reads as follows:

"You are being commissioned as a school leader for the school year 2019-2020 with responsibilities to be an example to all students by action and words in faith and academic excellence. To help students, to support one another, and see all as brothers and sisters. You will represent Presentation School in all activities at school or in the community to the best of your ability with integrity and Christian actions. Therefore, be always aware of your responsibilities and may blessings be upon you."

After the students received their certificates, Fr. Peter gave them a blessing. It was a very special day for the 8th grade students. They have been called to set an example for all students, and we are confident that they will.

Now that the first month of school is over and students have had time to learn the routes to their classrooms, the counselor noted that all of our students should be able to walk to their classrooms independently. In the rare event that a family member needs to accompany a student to the classroom, s/he will need to sign in and obtain a visitor badge either at the office or with the Preschool Door Supervisor. Visitors will then need to sign out and return the badge to the door supervisor or office when leaving the building. Walking to class independently is an important milestone for students to reach, but it will also reinforce the security measures we have in place as well as the risk management of the school. Security cameras are a great asset, but it is also important that we know who is in the building at all times and whether they are Essential 3 qualified (volunteer code of conduct, background check and safe environment training). Thank you for taking this very important step with us to ensure that our children are as safe as possible at all times.

Safe Environment/ Essential Three (E3) Credentialing (Also known as Virtus Training)

If you would like to be on campus as a volunteer and are not yet E3 qualified, please stop by the office for a packet of information on how to request a background check, register for safe environment training, and obtain a copy of the volunteer code of conduct. As per archdiocesan policy, all volunteers must complete the E3 prior to volunteer service with students . We hope you will consider volunteering at Presentation School.

Please pray for our leaders and all students attending Presentation school.

Blessings,
Gary Faust
Mary Kane
Volunteers Needed!

We are in GREAT need of volunteers to help supervise students during recess. This is a very important and necessary volunteer role. It is a huge help to the teacher assigned to monitor recess to have another adult or two present. Having another set of eyes and hands helps ensure that our students are safe while playing. Please consider making some time in your schedule for this. You can help at one or both recesses any day of the week.

Recess Supervision - 11:40-12:05; 12:05-12:25

If interested please contact the school office at 651-777-5877 or email Linda Charnowski
Call for Substitute Teachers

We would like to get some more people on our list of available substitute teachers. If you or someone you know would like to be added to our substitute list, please contact the school office. We are also able to get training for anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher.

Once completed, the test information will be used to pinpoint the learning needs of grade levels as well as individual students.
Dear Parents,

Presentation will be participating in the SchoolStore program again this year starting on October 7th . This online program helps our school earn cash without students selling door-to-door, collecting money, or delivering products. Over 400 merchants, including Sears, Target and WalMart.com, have joined together to offer up to 50% of sales to our school for shopping through SchoolStore.com.

To shop and support our school, simply go to www.schoolstore.com and select Presentation School of The BVM.
Participation is key in helping get the word out about our School Store. Soon your child will come home with a parent letter requesting you to help them enter email addresses to friends and family.  When you enter just 3 email addresses you'll receive a prize code your child can return the next day for a prize . Thank you for your families support of our wonderful school.
Congrats to these Presentation alumni for their recognition as Students of the Month for September at Hill-Murray. We love to hear about the great things former Panthers are doing! Do you know any alumni success stories? If so please email them to Mary Davini so we can help celebrate their achievements!

Volleyball

Eighth Grade:
The 8 th grade team is almost half way through their final season together. They are definitely seeing some more competition this season in some of their opponents. They currently sit with a 2-2 record. Both losses came down to a tie breaker 3 rd set where all sets were close in points. Both of those losses were also against teams that we faced last year in the playoffs. They were close matches then and we expected them to be tough teams this year. Both of those matches resulted in a number of 3-touch volleys that went on for some time. This team is definitely fun to watch. They have even gotten compliments from the refs about how well they play together and how great they do at serving.

Remaining Schedule:

Fifth-Seventh Grade:
The 5 th , 6 th and 7 th grade team has a mix of new players and players that have played before. They haven’t been able to pull out a match win yet, but have come out ahead in individual sets. They are working to find their stride while having fun.

Cross Country

The annual CAA 1 Mile Cross Country Meet is set for Saturday, October 12 th at Harvest Park at 8:00am. All grades can participate, but only 5 th -8 th graders can compete and place. Look for the flyer in the communication envelope going home today.

We participate in the Catholic Athletic Association. For the most current schedules and locations, please refer to their website at:  http://www.stpaulcaa.org/index .
