New Webinar to Examine Desegregation of
Locked Memory Care Units
|
|
A growing movement within the field of aging services is reexamining locked and segregated memory care communities. According to Jennifer Carson, PhD, director of the Dementia Engagement, Education and Research Program in the School of Community Health Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno, people living with dementia are recognizing that it is a human right to live in a restraint-free world.
Some providers have heeded this call for action by creating inclusive communities for people of all abilities. But it is a complex issue that requires knowledge, planning, communication, and teamwork.
In our
Feb. 6 webinar,
titled Memory Care Deconstructed:
Practical Pathways to Dementia Inclusion, Dr. Carson
will explore the case for inclusive living, including moral, clinical, evidence-based, and demographic arguments.
In Part 2 of this webinar series, on Feb. 12,
Dr. Carson will consider practical pathways to inclusion, highlighting practice-based examples from provider communities that are making strides and leading the way.
Green House partners and adopters may use their code for free access to this and other webinars.

Culture Change that Sticks
|
Many long-term care providers have done hard work of transforming their settings from "traditional" to truly person-directed, relationship-rich living environments. But
how does an organization ensure such transformation "sticks" within the organizations and among the staff members who implement it?
In this webinar from Jan. 9, GHP's
Director of Resource Development Marla DeVries answers this question. In addition to offering
suggestions for how non-Green House entities can take steps to implement enduring change,
she also explains
what GHP is doing to ensure that its adopters continue be "on-model."
DeVries and team members from Green House partner, the Eddy at Beverwyck, also examine how the measures work as well as what they mean.
