Whim Jewelry is now at Harvey Oak Mercantile. Designed and made in Newtown, PA by jewelry artist Jaime Sosonkin, Whim Jewelry represents simplicity, timelessness, and fine quality. Stop by for refreshments and to meet the artist who will be making jewelry on site and selling an expanded collection of her pieces. All Whim Jewelry will be 10% off during the event!
 
Houseplant Hospital

Houseplant Hospital invites you to bring your hibernating orchids into the shop. Learn how to clean them up and get it to bloom again someday. Free to attend, material(s) costs only.

Indigo Healing Arts Collective
110 Park Avenue, 6-7 pm 
Come practice with Indigo and "get the Led out" during this flow yoga class inspired by the music of Led Zepplin. No prior yoga experience is necessary. After class, students are encouraged to linger in the apothecary and plant room. $15. Reserve your space via email at [email protected].

Swarthmore Campus & Community Store
4 S. Chester Road, 9 am - 7 pm
Join the Swarthmore Campus & Community Store as they host a FREE raffle for a backpack made from bottles! These high-quality Parkland backpacks have exteriors made from 100% recycled water bottles, include a lined laptop sleeve, and are suitable for any age. Come pick up your free raffle ticket anytime between 9 am through 7 pm on Friday, September 7. You do not have to be present when they draw the winning ticket at 7 pm. Winner can choose any backpack from their selection.

Swarthmore CO-OP
341 Dartmouth Avenue, 8:30-10:30 pm
Quizzo at the CO-OP is back! Registration is required through their website, and players are encouraged to form teams of 4-6 people. This event is BYOB for participants ages 21+. Lite table snacks will be provided, and the store will be open for a portion of the time for players to purchase snacks and drinks. There is a $5 cash payment fee per player, and a great prize for the winning team!
 
Wellness on Park

Bourbon Tasting at Broad Table Tavern  
10 S. Chester Road 
Saturday, September 29 from 5-7 pm 
Join Beverage Manager Seth Calderhead for an evening of bourbon tasting at the Broad Table Tavern! Enjoy a presentation on how bourbon is made, an overview of facts and myths behind bourbon legends and commonly held beliefs, a discussion of the effects of aging and wood, and a hosted tasting of four different types of spirit including a very old bourbon indeed. This will be coupled with cured meats, cheeses, and small plates selected to complement the spirit. If you love bourbon or just want to learn more about it, this event will give you a broader and deeper understanding of this classic American spirit. The ticket price is $50 and includes all food and drink. Tax and gratuity is not included. 

Compendium 6th Anniversary Sale

September 13: TNL + Swarthmore Street Stroll 

It was so much fun the first time, let's do it again! During the finale Thursday Night Live performance on September 13, a  portion of Park Avenue will be closed for the Swarthmore Street Stroll. From 7-10 pm, p edestrians will enjoy the music of Greg Brady and the Swarthmore Ukulele Orchestra while strolling the street as businesses in the 'Ville set up pop-up shops and eateries.

Events at the Swarthmore Public Library

eReaders
The Library is happy to share that they now have a collection of eReaders available for check out. Thanks to a grant from the Rotary Club of Swarthmore, they have purchased and pre-loaded 24 eReaders with material for adults, teens, and children. You must be 14 years of age or older with a valid library account to borrow an eReaders. Stop by the library or check out their website for more information.

Youth Programs
Fall Youth Program session begins on September 4 and ends on October 11. Registration opens on August 28 at 7:30 am. For a full list of events, please visit our website.  New this September - Lego Club! Children ages 5  to 11, c ome build with your friends on  Wednesdays at 4:15 pm. The Library will  provide the Legos, and you provide the expertise! 

North Sea Gas
The Sharon J. Ford Concert and Lecture series presents a performance by North Sea Gas!  All the way from Edinburgh, North Sea Gas have spent more than 37 years as one of Scotland's most popular folk bands. Guitars, Mandolin, Fiddle, Bouzouki, Harmonica, Whistles, Bodhrans, Banjo and good humor are all part of the entertainment. Join us on September 20 at 7 pm in the Council Room.  

National Voter Registration Day
In conjunction with National Voter Registration Day on September 25, the Library will be registering individuals to vote and holding several special events such as Crack the Constitution, Speed-Repping with local government officials, History of Democracy in Philadelphia, and How to Spot Fake News. Look out for more information about these upcoming events.
