Nurturing the Faith
In Our Prayers: This week we will be praying for these St. Peter alumni who graduated from our school: Hunter Strzynski, class of 2018, Isobel Brady, class of 2015, Jack Prebay, class of 2018 and Jacob Beckrow, class of 2013.

Devotion of the Week: The Keys to the Kingdom Bible verse for this week is Psalm 50:15, "And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me." Sometimes it is easy to wonder what day does not have trouble. Even after celebrating Thanksgiving last week, there were still times when stress, chaos, trouble, and strife were prevalent in our lives. This verse points to our only hope, comfort, and peace. Last week in our Thanksgiving service, we sang LSB 785 and the words of verse two go well with this Key verse:
We worship You, God of our fathers, we bless You;
Through trial and tempest our guide You have been.
When perils o'ertake us, You will not forsake us,
And with Your help, O Lord, our struggles we win.
Quote of the Week
"I love this trip. I've been waiting for it all year!"
-Comment from one of our eighth graders about the shopping and ice skating trip that the 5th-8th graders had on Thursday this past week.
In the Classroom
Thank You: The Fifth and Sixth graders had a great time shopping on Thursday. They will be giving their gifts to a special family in need. We thank the CAN Council for giving them this opportunity to help out.  A very special thank you also goes to Mrs. Wurtz ( Laini's grandma), Mrs. Faubert , and Brady Hagenow for helping us with the shopping.
Sharing Our Blessings Service Project: Third and fourth grade students were given the opportunity to participate in a project called “Sharing our Blessings.”  Mrs. Joann Frederick visited the students in the month of October to explain this service project. She gave each student $10.00 as seed money to bless someone with an act of kindness. The students wrote about their experiences and shared them on Parent’s Day, November 27. Here is what some of them did (we will share what other students did in future newsletters):

  • Landon Wardin decided to buy food to donate to a local church doing a food drive.
  • Roman Mallory bought crayons and coloring books to give to the clinic where his mom works. This will help young children have something to do while they are waiting with their parents.
  • Zophia Zaleski decided to support her local animal shelter with food.
  • Gabby Rodriguez bought a bouquet of flowers and a thank you card for her neighbor. She listed all the kind things that her neighbor does for her family.
  • Josie Wolgast purchased gifts to donate to Toys for Tots.
  • Jakob Marolf visited his great grandma who resides in a nursing home. While there, he chose a gift tag from the Christmas tree and bought items to bless another resident.
  • Katie Hales bought cookie ingredients and fruit from the store. She decided to bless her great grandparents with their favorite treats since they were moving into new homes.
  • Brady Klemish bought food for a Thanksgiving meal to a family in need.
  • Brody Curnutt plans to give food, treats, and toys to an animal shelter.
  • Jackson Welsh anonymously blessed the next people in line at McDonald's by paying for their meal.
  • Olivia and Natalie McQueen decided to bless their grandpa’s caregivers. They made special thank you notes and attached them to bags of candy.
What's Your Story
Special Person’s Day can sometimes be stressful for teachers and I can attest it was much more fun to be a guest! Over the last few months, I’ve been at St. Peter about once a week hanging out in what is affectionately called “the old ladies’ room”—or at least that is what I called it when I was teaching! These lovely ladies are making quilts for the Alaska Mission for Christ trip, as they have for the past several years, and I felt I should pitch in and help but find myself looking forward to coming each week. Every day, kids and teachers walk by the craft room on the way to and from recess and the music room is next door. Most who walk by don’t even glance at the ladies working. However, I can tell you they love to hear the commotion of children walking by and singing from the choir room. I was always thankful for the support St. Peter congregation provides to the school and now appreciate it even more as these ladies constantly ask me what they could do for the school and are delighted to be among God’s precious lambs. Does that make me an “old lady” because I feel the same way? Maybe! If you are at school on Tuesday or Thursday mornings, poke your head in and say hello! If you’d like to come to Alaska and help deliver these quilts, contact me! In Him, Lori Milroy , former 5-8 ELA teacher at St. Peter ( lorimilroy@charter.net).
