On December 1, nine community teams stepped up to participate in the first-ever UJA Bowl-a-Fun ! All ages came together, and got into the spirit of the event with personalized t-shirts, stickers and mini mascots. Yasher koach to all of the participants, who, with the support of their wonderful sponsors, collectively raised over $4300 in support of our community! This event is part of the Jewish Book Festival and is proudly in partnership with Calgary JCC , Inclusion Innovations , Calgary Interfaith Council, and the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities. The 24th edition of the Jewish Book Festival starts this Sunday, December 8. Hosted by Calgary JCC , the festival features 10 remarkable authors. This year, Calgary Jewish Federation is proud to sponsor two authors as part of the Meet the Author Series , Goldie Morgentaler and Jochebed Katan. Morgentaler, who is a Canadian Jewish Literary Award winner, will share her insights on the world of Yiddish, and life before and after the Holocaust. Katan will share the story of the five gentile families and individuals who enabled her family to survive the Holocaust.
