Dear friends,
Great expectations for our kids are built upon the generative love of multiple committed relationships of a whole community and are fueled by time-critical investment in the present and future of all of its kids.
Anyone who has ever raised a child knows this. We know this. We also know that some of our kids - too many of our kids - still, are at risk of arriving at kindergarten behind and/or are struggling to catch up with the academic skills and proficiencies that set them on the path to success in school and in life.
Close to 500 pre-schoolers and nearly 1,600 K-12 kids of the Wayzata and Orono schools.
That's where the generative love of our community comes in.
The Great Expectations Initiative provides the way to ramp up our collective heart and will to change the odds for these kids - all along the way, from cradle to career - and in all the ways that matter.
We've made a great start. We know what's getting in the way. We're smarter now about what's working that needs to be scaled up. We've piloted innovative approaches that empower parents and kids to navigate systems and connect with resources that set and keep them on the path to success. We're on our way.
