Meet & Greet with Kassie Zamora

This month, we're catching up with Kassie Zamora, an Eagle-level player with The First Tee of Howard County who has been part of our program for the last six years, along with her two sisters, Karlie and Kara.

Q: What made you interested in joining The First Tee of Howard County?
A:  My younger sister, Karlie, wanted to try The First Tee so I decided to go along with her.

Q: Did playing with The First Tee motivate you to get involved with your school's golf team?
A:  I joined the golf team at North County High School this year as a sophomore to play on the team with my sister. We were two of three girls on the golf team.

MSGA Scholarship Applications Due Aug ust 31

Rising seniors who participate in The First Tee of Howard County are encouraged to submit an application to the Maryland State Golf Association's Scholarship Program. We hope all of our eligible participants will apply!

Delegate Frank Turner Confirmed to Board of Directors

The First Tee of Howard County is honored to have Maryland State Delegate Frank Turner join our  Board of Directors.

A resident of Columbia, Delegate Turner has served in the Maryland House of Delegates since 1994, and currently serves as vice chair of the Ways and Means Committee, which oversees legislation relating to education, elections and taxation.

17th Annual Tournament Raises $30,000

Thank you to all of our sponsors, players, volunteers, board members and tireless committee chairs, Nicola Morgal and Phil Bryan, who made our  17th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, August 10 at Fairway Hills a great success, raising roughly $30,000 for our youth programs.

Check out photos from the event on our  Facebook page and feel free to tag yourself!

Important Registration Tip for Fall Session

Registration for our fall session is still open on our website. The session will kick off on September 5 and we're looking forward to seeing many new and familiar faces!

This is the shortest break between sessions all year (five days/three business days).  As a result, our coaches will be working hard to finalize grades so that we  may progress participants who pass their evaluations and meet age requirements.

Therefore, it is wise for parents whose participants will NOT meet age requirements
(Age 9 to Par, Age 11 to Birdie, Age 13 to Eagle, Age 14 or Freshman status to Ace)
to register for the current level as soon as possible, since we have only 15 days until
classes resume, there is an intervening holiday, and we have class books to make up
before classes begin.
