Vice Chancellor
for Research
This month, I would like to bring to your attention several opportunities with ties to innovation and entrepreneurship.

First, we welcome you to join us February 24 as we continue the Distinguished Speaker Series in Research and Innovation . Our guest speaker will be Tom Chi, founding partner of At One Ventures. Chi previously served as the head of product experience at Google X. He will be sharing a plan for creating a net positive civilization with a sneak peek at the transformative technology that may become a catalyst for creating a new restorative relationship with nature. Registration is open to all, but space is limited. Reserve your spot here .

If you have developed a promising technology and are looking for funding to advance it through proof-of-concept testing, we encourage you to apply for our Science Translation and Innovative Research (STAIR TM ) or Data, Informatics and Application Launch (DIAL TM ) grants. The call for proposals for both grants was recently distributed. Applications are due on March 3, 2020. You can find more information here .

Lastly, we are also accepting nominations for the UC Davis Chancellor's Innovation Awards . These awards recognize faculty members, community partners, and innovative leaders for their success in developing new technologies, making a societal impact, or driving innovations based on university research or academic endeavors in the preceding calendar year. Nominations for the Innovator of the Year Award are due March 12, 2020. The submission form and details can be found here .

On this topic, I would like to thank you all for your innovative contributions to our students and society.
