Donors Choose for Mrs. D
Technology is important in our classroom, even though one might think that an orchestra classroom is all music making. When we start a new piece, we listen to YouTube recordings of other orchestras playing our piece, so we can get an idea of what it sounds like and how fast or slow it is.
Students use apps to practice note reading and their rhythms, to name only a couple of ways that we use technology in our class. I also post videos to YouTube, that either I've made or other teachers have created, of the parts to the different pieces that we're working on. Students can use these recordings to practice at home, listening to their parts or playing along with the teacher. But students also like to be able to hear themselves play. And that's why our new recorders are such a hit in my class!
