Courses, talks and advice sessions
SCOTTISH PEN ROUND TABLE ON DEFAMATION (SCOTT HOUSE, EDINBURGH)
Thursday 27 February 2020: 4pm

Publishers are invited to this round table event to learn more about defamation reform, explore what can be brought forward to protect publishers, their writers and readers, explore Scottish PEN's campaign, and encourage involvement in the call for evidence from the Justice Committee. Writing digital content continues to be a core skill in the rapidly changing area of digital marketing. This course with tutor Hilary Phillips is designed to ensure that your web content is written in a style that works online and a tone that is just right for your readers. The non-member's fee is £240+VAT and the member's fee is £175+VAT

Copyediting course
INTRODUCTION TO COPY-EDITING (SCOTT HOUSE, EDINBURGH)
Thursday 19 March 2020: 9.30am to 4.30pm

This course led by Cathy Tingle is suitable for people in the publishing industry, those who want to work in editing on a freelance basis, and anyone else who has responsibility for the presentation of written material. Some proofreading experience is desirable. The non-member's fee is £280/£260+VAT  and the member's fee is  £200/£175+VAT Book by 18 February for early booking discount.

This free seminar is for publishers from all sectors and any other organisation whose business might include publishing content, including those recently signed up with PLS for collective licensing, individuals new to a role that includes responsibility for collective licensing; and those who would like a refresher on how collective licensing works.

Scottish Book Trade Conference 2020
SAVE THE DATE: 21 APRIL 2020
Scottish Book Trade Conference 2020

The joint Publishing Scotland and Booksellers Association Annual Scottish Book Trade Conference 2020   #scotbookconf  will take place on Tuesday 21 April at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in Queen Street, Edinburgh. The conference is the biggest get-together of publishers and booksellers in Scotland.
The programme will feature a wide range of speakers from the book trade and pitching sessions with booksellers. The conference will be followed by a drinks reception.
We will be posting details of booking and the programme soon!
