Dear Members,

2019 Annual Training Symposium/Conference

I'd like to thank everyone who made our 2019 Conference in Denver a success!! First I'd like to thank our major Sponsors Federal Signal and L3 Harris and our other sponsors, FAAC, HAAS ALERT, Starchase and Calibre Press.  Without their contribution we would not have been able to hold our Conference.  Please support these companies any chance that you can.  I'd also like to thank the Board, Karl Smalley and the staff at Adams County, Piney Harris and the staff at Colorado State Patrol, our presenters, and all our attendees who made the trip to Denver this year!  Lots of pictures are posted on our Facebook page and website.

ALERT International would like to congratulate Brittany Kimmel from Choctaw Oklahoma on receiving our 2019 Bruce Cabral Memorial Scholarship. Brittany is the daughter of ALERT member Silvio Kimmel of Oklahoma City PD. Brittany will receive $1000 to attend the school of her choice. She is a 4.0 GPA senior at Choctaw High School and plans to become a veterinarian. Congratulations Brittany!  Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets for the raffle at this year's conference to support this scholarship!  We had some really great prizes.

ALERT would like to congratulate our 2019 Z Man award winner Lt. Dave Dunbar from Fishers Indiana Police Department. Dave has been in LE for over 40 years, an EVOC Instructor for 30 years, and has been an ALERT member for the last 20. He has served as the lead EVOC Instructor for Fishers PD since 1991. Dave has attended EVOC training courses all over the country and has developed the curriculum not only for his agency, but has assisted agencies in CA, OH, GA and VA. Dave will be retiring from LE in 2020. Congratulations Dave!

Our 2020 Board was voted and selected in Denver.  I am honored to serve as your President for the next two years!  Our Vice President is Jonathan Davis from Ohio, Secretary Chris Swanson from Oklahoma, Treasurer Mike Meixell from Maryland and Regional Board Member Mike Brady from Oregon.  Al Liebno remains on the Board as Past President.   Regional Representatives were selected as well.  I will be sending out a separate newsletter shortly regarding  the regions and the new Representatives.  We look forward to implementing some exciting things for ALERT in 2020.  Stay Tuned!
