The story of Advent is the story of dreamers; men and women who had dreams and visions of angels who foretold things yet to pass. But they also had different kinds of dreams; hopes, desires, and ambitions for their lives and their world. This Advent season, lets dream together about the world to come.

Once again, we are offering our yearly Advent Devotional - a daily treasure featuring a reflection based on scripture for you to read. The articles are written by our very own FCC members and friends. This year, it will be delivered to your computer inbox and printed versions will be available weekly in the Narthex. What a great excuse to stop working, read and feel inspired.  Email Sherry to make sure you're on the electronic list!
Reverse Advent Calendars 

If you would like to participate in the Reverse Advent Calendar church-wide Advent practice collecting items for World Relief's "Good Neighbor" kits for refugees, all you need is a box,  put these items in it daily  and print out our Reverse Advent Calendar Donation Card List with instructions.  Filled Donation Boxes will be collected during the Sunday, December 22nd single 10:30 am worship service.

Order Poinsettias 

 Order your poinsettias to adorn the sanctuary for Christmas.  Poinsettias may be offered in celebration or memory of a loved one or dedicated to someone special.  Order forms may be found in the Main Lobby.  Cost is $16.50 per plant, available in red, pink or white; orders must be received by Monday, December 9.  Contact Jennifer Darnall with questions.

Film Group will view Pier Paolo Pasolini's film The Gospel According to St Matthew (1964, b/w, 2h 17m, in Italian w/ subtitles). All the dialog is from Matthew, so it might be a good chance to re-read it before the movie! Please join us for this classic movie with brief discussion.

Ever wonder where the beautiful flowers on our altar come from? From folks like you! Removal December 19th

As we do every year, we have a nice collection of water bottles, glasses and all sort of flotsam and jetsam in our lost and found, located on the coat rack right next to our coffee cart. If you think you have something there, please come get it, as it will be given to Goodwill on Thursday December 19th. We also have furniture under the stairs near the parlor if you want to take a look at that and have anything you need.

Do you or someone you know struggle with the approaching holiday? Perhaps a job loss, death of a loved one, illness or simply feeling like Christmas is not happening the way the world tells you it should. Please join us for this time of understanding and reflection in our sanctuary. Childcare provided.

Choir Homecoming Sunday

Once a year we invite all singers that have ever sung with our choir to join us for Choir Homecoming Sunday. That day was Dec. 1st and we sang "Goin' Home", touching words to Dvorak's tune.
Joyful Noise Children's Choir
Grades 2-5

Joyful Noise Children's Choir (grades 2-5) begins in January.  Rehearsals on Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm, beginning January 9, in the Choir Room.  To sign up, contact Michele Hecht, Director of Music Ministry.

Carolyn Lawrence, one of FCC's interim youth ministry directors was recently published in the journal   Living Lutheran A life-long Lutheran, Carolyn reflects on her visits to Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau as a fellow with  ( FASPE ).
Gun Violence Initiative

Gun violence, sadly, is a part of what seems like the daily news. How can we change things? How can we make sense of what's happening? Join us January 12th-Feb. 12th, partnering with local church St. Marks, for a series of discussions tackling this pressing and ever-growing problem in society. Watch for more info coming soon.
December Social Justice Meeting

This month as we celebrate the birth of the Christ, the prince of peace, the Social Justice Discussion Group will take some time to study an organization dedicated to achieving peace through practical initiatives. 
WorldBEYOND.org is a global nonviolent movement to end war and establish a just and sustainable peace. This organization supports strategies for managing conflict without violence. It promotes assuring security by reforming and establishing new institutions and processes for lasting peace.  All are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.  Questions Contact  Ida Hagman

Heifer Donations Tripled on Giving Tuesday

Heifer Sunday was a record-breaker for donations this year and we received a nice surprise on Tuesday when we donated the funds. Since it was Giving Tuesday, the donations were tripled, yes tripled, allowing us to donate the following:
  • 3 heifers
  • 6 pigs
  • 3 sheep
  • 6 goats
  • 6 trios of rabbits (18 total)
  • 12 clutches of chicks
  • 6 beehives
  • 6 llamas/alpacas
  • 3 water buffalo
  • 3 schools of fish fingerlings
This donation will allow families to provide themselves and their communities with a sustainable source of nutrition.

Crafts, games, snacks, and a Muppet Christmas Carol await your kids while you have a night off! Senior high youth going on Work Camp (supported by Kendra and Ally) are hosting a fundraiser on December 20 from 5-9 PM, open to kids aged infant through 5th grade; all you have to do is feed them supper then drop them off at church.
