Each week we will share with you a new initiative or resource that you may not know about. This week, mental health trainings AND parish wellness centers!

In our efforts to be active in advocating for social and economic equality, we have created partnerships with local universities so our parishes can be points of access to care in addition to places of worship. Nursing and social work students will be onsite in our churches to provide needed services to the community. If you are interested in utilizing your parish as a community health and prevention center, at no cost to you, please contact Canon Toneh Smyth (see below).

And, last month we held an interactive mental health training (that was booked to capacity!) This is a topic that affects all communities. This training was targeted to laity, clergy, chaplains and those on healing prayer groups. The goal was to encourage understanding and engagement with people who may have mental health issues or are showing signs they may be in crisis. We have another one coming up on October 27th.
