Dear SJPS Families,

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Today, four of our teachers are continuing their Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Level one training. Mrs. Wisniewski, our 3K teacher, has already been trained and has been teaching with this method for two years.
Mrs. Fischer 4K, Mrs. Salmins 5K, Mrs. Dew Gr. 1., and Mrs. Chudy Gr. 2 will spend the weekend learning about CGS.
CGS beliefs:
  • That God and the child have a unique relationship with one another particularly before the age of six.
  • That growth of this relationship should be assisted by the adult, but is directed by the Spirit of God.
  • That children need their own place to foster the growth of that relationship.
  • That the child's spiritual growth is best served through tangible but indirect means.
By the 2020-2021 school year, we will have our beautiful children, 3K through 2nd grade, engaged in growing in their faith through Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
One mom has said, "T his Montessori-based program for children has given the kids something I could never be sure I was conveying: a simple, synthesized, profound involvement with the Gospel and with the liturgical life of the Church."
What a beautiful gift for us and our children!
AND many thanks to Cathy Marjamaa! In her own words, " There are so many fruits that I see in the children and their growing awareness of what is going on in Mass along with knowing Jesus--that He is a real Person from a real place, that He is madly in love with them and is preparing a place for each of us in the life to come."

Help me spread this good news about our beautiful school! Share this with others and invite them to come and see how St. Jerome Parish School is living our mission of following Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions everyday!

God's peace and blessings,
Mary Johnson
