GO Kitchen Ready Program Opens New Cafe at Givens Gerber Park in South Asheville

Kitchen Ready students in the kitchen at GO Cafe.

Green Opportunities' culinary social enterprise is growing. Last month, GO launched its newest culinary venture, GO Cafe at Givens Gerber Park. The cafe serves breakfast and lunch to residents of Givens Gerber Park, an affordable rental retirement community. The cafe is also open to the public.

GO Cafe serves as a teaching kitchen, providing valuable on-the-job training opportunities to students enrolled in GO's Kitchen Ready culinary program. Three students enrolled in GO's 20th training cycle currently operate the cafe under the leadership of Chef Instructor Amber Whitt, a graduate of A-B Tech's culinary arts program.

GO Cafe's rotating menu features affordably-priced home style favorites, like biscuits and gravy, shepherd's pie, and chicken Alfredo, alongside scratch-made  soups, salads, and sandwiches, and classic breakfast fare. Desserts are baked in-house daily.

Location: 60 Gerber Road, Asheville, NC 28803
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30-9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
