TAG you are it! A new license plate design is about to be released and the Public Education Foundation will benefit from it! When Florida residents purchase or renew their Support Education specialty tag, $20 goes directly back to support public education. 
LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
Foundation staff recently attended the Take Stock in Children scholarship & mentoring Leadership Conference. During the conference, the Marion County staff received two awards: the Gold Level Program Management award and the Luminary Award for exceeding program goals during the 2017-2018 year.

Applications for new students to apply to the Take Stock in Children program are currently being distributed to eligible 8th grade students in Marion County Public Schools. Know a student who might be a good candidate?

Xglosive Tennis for Take Stock in Children is a fun, family friendly fundraiser at Fort King Tennis Center. The glow in the dark "tennis" for all ages and abilities will have two sessions at Ft. King Tennis center, from 6:30-7:30pm or 8-9pm. Food Trucks will be at the event too! Entry fees start at $25 for kids and $35 for adults. All entry fees will increase to $40 on November 1st.
All money raised will go towards Take Stock in Children scholarships for low-income, at-risk youth in Marion County Public Schools.
BUISNESS PARTNERSHIPS IN ACTION
Our Business Partnership of the Month is Ocala Health & Westport High School!
Ocala Health became business partners with West Port High School in December 2017. Consistent communication and follow-up has made this partnership successful.
Ocala Health has gone above and beyond as a Business Partner. Staff presented to several West Port classes about soft skills needed in the healthcare setting as well as the various careers available in the healthcare industry and the education or certifications needed for each specialty. Ocala Health is improving the quality of healthcare for our community and the quality of education at Westport High!
TEACHER RECOGNITION
During September, each school submitted nominations to the Foundation for their Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year. These finalists will now complete portfolios to be read and reviewed by a Selections Committee. All Teachers of the Year and Rookies of the Year will be honored at the annual Golden Apple Gala on January 25th at Circle Square Cultural Center. Congratulations to the nominees from each school!

TOOLS 4 TEACHING
Did you know every teacher in Marion County Public Schools can shop once a month for free school supplies at the Foundation's Tools 4 Teaching store? From basic supplies such as pencils and crayons to seasonal items and even copier paper, every teacher can find items to enhance their classroom and make sure each and every student will have the tools to be successful in class. The supplies in the store are thanks to the generosity of donors and organizations like the Kids in Need Foundation. How much value in free supplies has the store provided teachers and school since school started on August 13th? .....
