The Garden of Wisdom: 
Earth Tales from the Middle East
Join us at ArtisTree in Pomfret to celebrate the publication of a new book by Upper Valley author Michael J. Caduto-- The Garden of Wisdom: Earth Tales from the Middle East--hosted by ArtisTree Community Arts Center and NWPL.
During this free family program Michael will present storytelling, music (sing-along) and a brief visual feast of photos showing the animals, plants and landscapes of the Middle East.  More than 10 years in the making, this book grew from a peaceful collaboration of some 20 organizations and 50 individuals from Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine--all working in partnership to create this unique children's book of indigenous nature stories that focus on animals, plants, friendship, Earth stewardship and wisdom.     (more)

Baby & Toddler Story Time welcomes Marybeth Lang The Singing Rooster
The Singing Rooster is coming to Woodstock, Vermont! A rhyming book suitable for young children and early readers, this beautifully illustrated book teaches in a very fun way how a Rooster is important to the farm.  Marybeth Lang is an author, singer/songwriter, and pediatric nurse. /  Baby & Toddler Story Time features short stories, interspersed with songs and finger plays and runs for about 20 minutes. It is geared for children ages 0-3 years. (more)

Solo Canoe Trip Down the Connecticut
Join Jean Gerber for a slide presentation of her two week solo canoe trip down the Connecticut River from Thetford, Vermont, to Old Saybrook, Connecticut.  Included will be preparation, gear, portaging logistics, and camping.
The beauty of the river and ease of travel make it a delightful trip.  If you ever thought about paddling part or all of the river this presentation might help to encourage you.          (more)

Still Life:  Photography of Emmy Walden Fox
Emmy Walden Fox has loved photography since she saw her first print magically appear in the darkroom. She spent 10 years at an art and nature center in Massachusetts, coordinating photography workshops plus photographing events and classes.
Her children are her greatest inspiration with their purity, silliness and take on things. Emmy hopes that her images evoke emotion and a dreamlike timeless feel to them.
Exhibit runs February 15 - March 31.  (more)

The NWPL Board of Trustees meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:15 p.m. (The Library is closed on Presidents Day, so meeting is being held Monday, Feb 26 instead.) Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend these open public meetings. A time for public comments is included in each meeting.

Baby & Toddler Story Time

This story time features short stories, interspersed with songs and finger plays and runs for about 20 minutes. It is geared for children ages birth to three years.

Pre-school Storytime

This session features three thematically-related stories and a tie-in craft or activity. This session runs for about 45 minutes. Geared for children ages 3-5 years.

Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. - Noon
Story & Yoga Time with Angel
Join The North Chapel Spiritual Exploration for Children and Families Committee in a WEEKLY series "Story & Yoga Time with Angel Rubino" at the NWPL. This is a free weekly series that will include a story, yoga, movement, meditation and more!
Appropriate for ages 2-6 with caregiver/family.

Breastfeeding Support Group 
Are you breastfeeding?  Pregnant and plan to breastfeed? Meet monthly to discuss any breastfeeding related issues you may have or to just share/swap stories with other breastfeeding moms.
The group is led by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) who can help you through any stage of your breastfeeding journey (pregnancy through weaning).

Thursday Afternoon Knitting Group

Knitters are invited to meet on the Mezzanine of NWPL every Thursday afternoon. All knitters are welcome - from beginners to experts. We will knit together, learn together and provide each other assistance when needed. Plan to bring your current project, knitting questions or problems, or a pattern to share.    (more info...)

Qigong with Gerry Sandweiss
In Qigong, your awareness is awakened in the first lesson and benefits accrue immediately. When practiced, Qigong helps to reawaken our sense of joy.  No equipment needed except one's body.  Gerry Sandweiss has been a student and practitioner Qigong for fifteen years. Classes will be held Saturday mornings at 8:30. Classes held on the NWPL mezzanine - enter through back door of library.  Please wear loose clothing and bring a mat and notebook. Beginner Art Classes on Mezz
The Friends of the NWPL are teaming up with renowned local artist and art instructor, Carolyn Egeli, to offer beginner art classes. 
Carolyn teaches the principles of art, including values, color theory, and composition, using traditional art materials.  Beginners and intermediate students are invited to develop artistic skills at your own level. Under Carolyn's expert guidance, and the support of your fellow pupils, you will experience the transformative power of art.  On-site lunch break and instructional breaks and time for sharing.  Pre-registration for the four-part course is required.   $320.00 fee.  Register early - limited to 10 pupils.   (more)
