In this E-newsletter, you will find information about a number of road closures in effect  beginning tomorrow morning for the annual Turkey Trot - so please make note of them! A new trustee was recently sworn in to serve on the Village Board, and Robert Parker Coffin (RPC) Road and the bridge are now reopened after several months of being closed due to the RPC Road project. Please enjoy holiday shopping and dining in the downtown, along with a variety of holiday events and activities sponsored by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association. The Lions Club will be celebrating a fundraising milestone at a public event coming soon, and Village vehicle stickers will be available for purchase beginning the first week in December.

Village Hall Closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving
Village Hall will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29, 2019. The Village will reopen for normal business hours on Monday, December 2 from 
8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

RPC Road and Bridge Reopen

Just in time for the holiday hustle and bustle, Robert Parker Coffin (RPC) Road and the Village's historic bridge were reoepend on Friday, November 15, 2019. Both have been closed for several months due to the RPC Road project. Road reconstruction, extension of the public watermain, and enhancements to the downtown including ADA accessible sidewalks, new curbs and landscaping have been completed so far. This project will restart in the spring of 2020 to enter its final phase, which will include reconstruction of the bridge and replacement of its wooden cover. Village Parking Stickers Available

The 2020 Village of Long Grove vehicle stickers will be available starting the first week in December for $10 at Long Grove Village Hall. Business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and checks can be made payable to: Village of Long Grove, and either dropped off at Village Hall or mailed to the Village of Long Grove, 3110 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove, Illinois 60047. Vehicle stickers are not mandatory, but revenues that are generated help to provide funding for Village services available to residents and businesses. Road Closures for Annual Turkey Trot







The Long Grove Turkey Trot will take place tomorrow morning on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 28). Signs have been posted along the route and large changeable message signs will be at major intersections to provide notice of road closures and heavy traffic impacts. Road closures will occur between 8:40 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  Motorists in the area can expect heavy traffic delays prior to and during this event. New Trustee is Sworn In
New Village Trustee Jennifer Michaud is sworn in by Village Clerk Amy Johns Gayton.
New Trustee Jennifer Michaud was sworn in at the November 19, 2019 Village Board meeting. Michaud, a 24-year Long Grove resident fills the seat left open by former Trustee Mike Sarlitto, who resigned in October.   Michaud has a background as a general contractor and has worked with a variety of nonprofits. She has volunteered with the Reed Turner Nature Center, and collaborated on a variety of habitat restoration projects. In her application to become a trustee, she wrote, "I believe it is important for citizens to get involved in their community and I am finally at a point in my life where I have enough time and energy to commit myself to volunteering."  The term for this seat will be up in April 2021, at which time an election will be held to fulfill the remaining two years of the term.
Lions Club Celebrates 
$1 Million in Fundraising 
The Long Grove Lions Club chapter is celebrating a milestone achievement after its 36 year history - raising $1 million that has been donated to a wide variety of charitable causes in the local community. A public celebration will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Buffalo Creek Brewing. There will be live music (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) from  Chicago's top 90's cover band, Run Forrest Run, along with light hors d'oeuvres,  and a  check presentation ceremony at 7:30 pm. New toys and monetary donations will be accepted in lieu of a ticket price, and are appreciated in support of the Long Grove Lions partner charities.

Kick off the holidays on Black Friday (November 29) and receive a FREE GIFT with purchases totaling $150 or more (pre-tax). Stop by the Long Grove Visitor's Center and present your receipts during normal business hours, Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (while supplies last, limit four gifts per visit). This promotion runs through Monday, December 23, 2019. 

The holiday fun in the downtown includes a Christmas tree parade, strolling costumed carolers and musicians, appearances by Santa Claus, and a new horse-drawn sleigh ride - along with some of the best 'shop small' options in the suburbs! Click here for more information.
