Snohomish STEM Network Welcomes Dan Ruiz!
We are excited to welcome Dan Ruiz as our new Manager of the Snohomish STEM Network! His background in developing, administering and advising vocational education programs serving underrepresented populations, as well as, his experience planning and executing large-scale workshops and events bring valuable skills to our STEM Network community. Most importantly, his enthusiasm and passion for helping students and businesses alike will be instrumental in engaging our learning and workforce community.

Regional Apprenticeship Pathways Project
Congrats to Marysville School District , Councilmember Nehring and the dozens of stakeholders who contributed to the Regional Apprenticeship Pathway s project! Graduates of the program will leave with a high school diploma, a college credential from Everett Community College and preferential entry into state approved apprenticeship programs. This is a fantastic new workforce development asset for Snohomish County and a model for others in Washington State!
Expanding Your Horizons Conference
March 24 | Edmonds Community College
Expanding Your Horizons  (EYH) is a national conference that encourages girls, grades 8-12, to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. The conference offers 25+ unique workshops featuring successful women from a variety of STEM careers.

Edmonds Community College partners with the Edmonds  and  Mukilteo  school districts and the  American Association of University Women   to host EYH.

Includes admission to the event, lunch, t-shirt, lanyard,
and a souvenir

STEM Global Educator Workshop
Saturday, April 4 | 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Join fellow STEM educators from around the state for Washington Global Health Alliance’s STEM Global Educator Workshop . This interactive and engaging session is designed to give you activities and curriculum resources to integrate global health into your classrooms. As a participant, you'll earn 6 Washington State STEM clock hours.

The workshop sessions will feature activities tailored for high school curriculum standards, and participants will leave with several middle school adaptations.

K-12 Renewable Energy Art Contest
Entries must be submitted by 5:00 pm, March 18
Snohomish County PUD invites all students in grades K-12 who live in Snohomish County or on Camano Island to use their artistic talents and creativity, along with knowledge of renewable energy sources, to design a poster highlighting your favorite form of renewable energy.

Up to 12 entries will be selected, with each winning artist receiving $50. Winners will also be recognized at a PUD Board of Commissioners meeting.

STEM Signing Day Application is Closing Soon
Applications are due by March 6, 2020
Application deadline is approaching for the annual Washington State STEM Signing Day presented by The Boeing Company and Washington STEM . Applications are due by March 6, 2020 .
 
Just like signing days for athletes, the annual Washington State STEM Signing Day on May 6, 2020 will celebrate high school seniors from across the state as they make their commitments to continuing education programs focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math. Students will sign letters of intent for their chosen STEM fields. 
 
Who should apply?
All Washington high school seniors who are planning to continue their education in STEM after high school - which includes two- or four- year colleges, a technical degree or certificate, or an apprenticeship program - are eligible. Student selection is limited to one student per legislative district, so there are only 49 spots!

Everett Community College STEAM Camp Fundraiser

Bring friends, family, and coworkers to enjoy a delicious meal while giving back! For one night only, El Paraiso Mexican Grill and Bar at the Lake Tye Building in Monroe is donating 15% of all sales to the first ever EvCC East County S.T.E.A.M. Camp! 

On July 18, middle school students grades 6th-8th will explore STEAM subjects, engage with hands-on experiments, and spark excitement in a variety of in-demand fields right here at Lake Tye Building!

Seattle Pacific University Summer Tech Camps 2020
High school students can jump start a tech career at hands-on programs where STEM meets fun. SPU’s Department of Engineering and Computer Science offers on-campus summer day camps for 9th–12th graders (as of autumn 2020). Students can earn college credit and a $1,000 SPU scholarship. Camps feature different fun topics for students from Game Creation Studio to Fundamentals of Programming.
