Thérèse Fahy on 'Ireland's Tombeau to Debussy 2018' 


Ahead of concerts featuring new works inspired by Debussy by 7 Irish composers at the Centre Culturel Irlandais from 24-26 October, pianist Thérèse Fahy talks to CMC about the project to mark the 100th anniversary of Debussy's death.

Dave Flynn has released a new digital album of some of his work from the 2000s available exclusively  for sale from his web site. He speaks to CMC about the album and background to the featured recordings. 
 

Ann Cleare talks about her residency at the soundSCAPE Festival 

Since 2012 CMC, in partnership with the Association of Irish Composers with support from Culture Ireland, has supported an artist residency at the soundSCAPE new music festival in northern Italy. 

This year's  Artist-in-Residence was Ann Cleare and ahead of performances of works taking place in Iceland over the next month she recently spoke to CMC about the residency.




Kevin O'Connell on his new setting of the Irish mass


Kevin O'Connell's new setting of the Irish language mass receives its premiere at Solemn Mass at 11am in St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin on 14 October. CMC asked the composer about the work.



Karen Power reports on the 2018 ISCM World Music Days festival
  

Karen Power's work hearing leaves was selected for performance at the 2018 ISCM World Music Days in Beijing in May of this year. She writes about her attendance at the festival.




Selected October Events 

Buaine na Gaoithe - a new song cycle by Ryan Molloy with specially-written texts by Irish poet Martin Dyar is performed in venues in Down, Kildare, Derry, Limerick and Mayo.


RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra presents 'Music of Our Time' featuring works by Anne-Marie O'Farrell, Vincent Kennedy, Marian Ingoldsby and Brian Irvine.



RTÉ Contempo Quartet premiere 'f' a new work by Andrew Hamilton commissioned by RTÉ.



RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra perform A.J. Potter's Sinfonia "de Profundis".



John McLachlan's 2016 work for the RTÉ Contempo Quartet is performed in Donegal.



The International Alliance for Women in Music: Annual Concert Winners 2018 features works by Irish composers Rhona Clarke , Anna Murray and Jane O'Leary .
