by Angie Thomas -- This bestselling, powerful young adult novel about social justice and one teen girl's effort to fight for what is right, will leave you breathless. The narration by Bahni Turpin is hands down the best I've ever heard. This is such an important book it should be required reading for life in general. Or listening. Definitely listening.

. We like to remind our customers from time to time that Tattered Cover owns and operates coffee shops in both our Colfax Avenue and Lower Downtown locations. We have a full menu of hot and cold coffee and tea drinks -- including Nitro Cold Brew, now at

"What a delightful feel-good book! I loved that it was about artists, friends, growing up, changes, being okay and not okay. I learned a lot about asexuality, which was described very well through the eyes of the main character, Tash. The dynamic of the three main friends was great. They were complete characters, with problems beyond their romantic lives. Also, I loved the contemporary aspect of it, with social media, the web series, and all of the tech. It was as if it was set in the real world! Sometimes YA stories isolate their characters from the technology we all use and I liked that it was central to this story. I highly recommend it." --

Meet me at the Museum
in a series of emails and letters. It took me about 2 pages to fall in love with Youngson's main characters, Kristian and Tina, who begin a unique relationship centered around their mutual interest in The Tollund Man, an Iron Age archeological find housed in the Silkeborg Museum. Kristian and Tina's letters take on a life of their own, and, I think other readers will also find themselves caught up in the unfolding relationship which begins to slowly take shape. Kristen and Tina trust and respect each other even though each brings a different reality to their friendship . And so, when they eventually find mutuality, each fosters in the other a new way of looking at their own life, which then makes it possible to them to make changes neither thought possible. It's a triumphant story made more powerful, I think, because it comes from a woman's perspective." --

"I always say that if a mystery thriller novel has the word 'woman' or 'girl' in the title then it's probably going to be really good! This book is the most frustrating thriller I've read since
The Woman in the Window
and I mean that in the best way possible. It starts off like a typical girl meets boy story. Emily falls in love in Adam and she is nervous to meet his mother, as anyone in a serious relationship might be. But something is a bit off with Adam. He has another woman in his life--Pammie, his mother. Pammie doesn't like Emily, but Adam doesn't believe it. The book follows Emily and Pammie's cat and mouse game and tensions between the 'happy couple' rise as Emily tries to get Adam to see what's really happening. Soon, Emily finds herself in the middle of a very sinister situation. If you have the urge to stay up all night, spend it reading this book. " --

I was eager to read this because I have a soft spot for the ancient scroll/book schtick. It was unlike anything I expected and I loved it. It draws heavily on folklore and mythology (especially Indian), has memorable characters, incredibly inventive world-building, and one of the most sui generis approaches to shapeshifters that I have ever read. 'Werewolf' doesn't remotely cover what these creatures are (though the claim makes sense in context)." --
