Lake Park East Campus Electrical Repairs Update
Planned technology shutdown scheduled for Columbus Day weekend.
Thank you, Lancer families and staff, for your continued patience as Lake Park High School has worked to address the power issues at East Campus. The upcoming holiday weekend will bring resolution to this situation, which will involve returning the building to ComEd service from the generator.
In order to finalize the repairs and make this transition, another planned technology shutdown will occur. This shutdown will begin on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and continue through Monday at approximately 12:00 p.m. Similar to last time, districtwide systems will be offline during the planned shutdown including Home Access Center, LP Lunchmoney, and phones.
Please note that East Campus will be closed with building access limited to only scheduled, pre-approved events. The athletics and activities offices have communicated directly with impacted coaches and sponsors who are notifying students. The purpose is to eliminate any non-essential use of East Campus this weekend.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as the East Campus power repairs are resolved. Technology access will be restored on Monday, October 8 by 12 noon.

PSAT-NMSQT Testing for Juniors on October 10
East Campus will have a normal school day; non-attendance day for seniors.
On Wednesday, October 10 all juniors from the Class of 2020 will take the PSAT/NMSQT exam at Lake Park West Campus. On this date, senior students from the Class of 2019 will not
attend school; however, East Campus students will have a normal school day.
This exam is a practice test in preparation for the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test); however, it's also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Students who receive excellent scores on this test have the opportunity to earn prestigious status as National Merit Scholars.
This is a required attendance day for all juniors and they must be present in order to receive a score. The College Board does not allow absent students to make up the PSAT/NMSQT.
On test day, students should arrive at 7:15 a.m. and bring a current photo ID, two #2 pencils and an approved calculator. Morning buses will follow their normal route times, and will return students home upon the completion of testing at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Students received an official PSAT/NMSQT student guide in their English classes. This resource provides testing strategies, a full practice test, and a list of approved calculators. Oktoberfest Fundraiser to Benefit Student Athletes

Oktoberfest Fundraiser on
Wednesday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m.
Benefiting all Lancer athletic programs, the event will be hosted at Pollyanna Brewing Company located at 245 E. Main Street in Roselle.
Pre-sale tickets are officially sold out, but tickets will be available for $20 at the door. Guests will enjoy the Bricks on Wheels food truck, plenty of beverages, the opportunity for split-the-pot and raffle baskets. For more information, contact

The Lake Park Athletic Booster Club is a non-profit organization composed of parents, staff, and alumni. Sharing a common goal to enhance the experience of student athletes by raising funds for all 27 Lake Park athletic clubs, the Booster Club raises funds through an annual membership drive, corporate sponsorships, concessions, spirit wear and school store sales. Over the past 12 years, the Lake Park Booster Club has provided in excess of $660,000 to the athletic programs to fund expenses not included in the Lake Park athletic budget.

Children's Show Takes the Stage
Free performances offered for schools and the community.
The 2018-19 drama season continues with The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, a children's book by Mary Lynn Dobson.
In addition to three performances for local elementary and middle schools, the cast will perform on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lake Park High School East Campus Dice Auditorium. Admission is free; tickets are available at the door. Contact [email protected] for more info.
Humorously narrated by the Town's Gal, this is the legend of Robin Hood, that handsome hero who robbed from the poor to give to the rich. Robin Hood and his Merry Men battle the evil Prince John and his haughty henchman, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Robin's one and only love, the Lady Marian, remains true to her champion as she assists his crusade. Along the way, Robin discovers that even heroes have a few important life lessons to learn.
The leading characters are Robin Hood performed by Seth Caines (12); Lady Marian by Abby Manning (10); Town's Gal by Angela Kalish (9); Prince John by Riley Mahoney (11); and Sheriff of Nottingham by Brett Tobler (9). Break a leg!

Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences
Online scheduler opens Friday, October 12.
Lake Park will host parent-teacher conferences on
Thursday, October 25 (5:00 to 8:30 p
.m.) and Friday, October 26 (7:30 a.m. to 12 noon)
at both campuses. These conferences allow parents/guardians an opportunity to meet with teachers on an individual basis. Parents are encouraged to meet as many teachers as possible. Most conferences are five minutes in length.
Please note that students will follow a regular bell schedule with full-day attendance on Thurs
day, October 25; however, students will not attend school on Frid
ay, October 26.

Friday, October 12 at 6:00 a.m. until Wednesday, October 24 at 3:00 p.m. For convenience, parents/guardians are encouraged to print or e-mail a finalized copy of appointments for parent-teacher conferences.

Explore Technology Center of DuPage
Lancers can visit TCD to explore elective course programs during upcoming field trip.
Any current sophomore and junior students who are interested in learning about the Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) are invited to attend a field trip to TCD on
Wednesday, October 24. TCD offers a variety of elective course programs that can prepare students for post-secondary education and career paths such as automotive, construction trades, healthcare, public/human services, and engineering programs. The field trip will last approximately half of the school day and students will be responsible for any applicable classwork. The
attached form provides information regarding the program offerings at TCD and includes a permission slip for the field trip. Completed field trip forms must be returned to the Counseling Office by

Future Lancers to Take PSAT 8

, Lake Park High School will administer the PSAT 8 assessment to all eighth grade students in preparation for their freshman year. It is important that students do as well as possible on each component of this exam as these test scores will impact student placement into classes next fall.
Each student planning to attend Lake Park next year must take this exam, which will provide individualized information about a student's aptitude in reading, writing, language, and math. This test must be completed in order to generate a schedule for your student.
