Dear Asbury Friends,

On Sunday, October 27 at noon, could you help us fix dinner for 10,152 people?  Seriously!  We are going to participate in an inter-generational event that will help feed hungry people around the world.  Here are some things you need to know...
  • 12:00 to 12:30 - In Hager Hall, we will serve lunch to people participating in this event.  A free will offering to pay for lunch will be received.
  • At 12:30, we will hear instructions from the Rise Against Hunger staff.
  • By the way, everything will already be set up because our amazing Asbury youth are going to get things ready for us that morning!
  • There will be a nursery provided for our little ones.
  • After packaging food for 2 hours, we will have prepared 10,152 meals.
Please help us make this event successful by calling or emailing the church office (913.432.5573 or [email protected]) to let us know you will be participating.

Blessings,
Rev. Gayla Rapp,
Senior Pastor

A Note from Rev. Hollie Tapley, Disaster Response Coordinator
for the Great Plains United Methodist Conference

United Methodist Volunteers in Mission

Cold weather is upon us -- and in light of that, there is still work to be done in Nebraska!  The saying is true -- the Methodists are the first in and the last out, and the Fremont LTRC is in dire need of our assistance.  There are many mobile homes that need insulation and skirting installed before the weather turns cold.  They have asked us to come work from October 28 - November 2.  That is to begin work on that Monday, not later on during that week.  We need volunteers who can work every day that week, even if you can only come for a couple of days!

Housing -- if you prefer a hotel, you better book now, as with only 5 hotels in Fremont, they fill up quick.  The Fremont LTRC is also willing to secure housing and some meals while we are there.

Fremont is working on their end to get this week's plans together.  What I need is to hear from each of you on who will be serving that week!

Responding together,
Rev. Hollie Tapley
