Oct  6, 9am, Greenwich Color Challenge , 1.5 Mile Color Fun Run & Obstacle Course. ISD is hosting their 2nd Annual Greenwich Color Challenge. Run, walk, jump, dodge, climb and get covered in color with your family and friends.

Oct 6, 9am, DART To The Finish, Walking to cure Niemmann-Pick Type C. Charity walk at Tod's Point (Greenwich Point Park). Open to all - Greenwich residents and non-residents. Sign-in opens at 8am at the Clam Bake picnic area. 

Oct 13th, 11-4pm, OGS Pumpkin Patch, Old Greenwich School. Games for all ages, bounce houses, the famous "spook-tacular" hanted house, hay maze,crafts, a magician, karaoke, a live raffle with fabulous prizes and loads of pumpkins and great food.

Oct 14, 2-5pm, OGRCC's 75th Anniversary Celebration - Set Sail, Binney Park, Old Greenwich. Sailboat regatta, food, drinks, crafts & more. For more information call (203) 637-3659.

Nov 5, 7pm, Cub Scout Pack 3, Eastern Greenwich Civic Center. Open to ALL BOYS AND GIRLS - kindergarten to fifth.

Dear Parents,

Thanks to everyone who participated in our first ever Halloween Swap swap this week as part of our Green Initiatives at Riverside School - it was a success.

Tickets are on sale now for 2 fun upcoming events: the Riverside Round Up Fall Fundraiser on Saturday, October 20th (adults only) and the Boo Bash Halloween Party on Friday, October 26th.  Please note we are accepting waitlist for the Early Party and Late Party tickets are going fast.  More information below.

FALL FU NDRAISER TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
This year's annual Riverside School Fall Fundraiser, "Riversid e Round Up", will be on Saturday, October 20th at the Arch Street Teen Cen ter from 7-10pm. Purchase your tickets now! There's also an opportunity to donate even if you can't attend. For questions about  the event, to volunteer or to pay for tickets   with a check, please contact:

Please log on to  RIVPTA.ORG  today to buy your tickets or to sign up for a wait list!  The Early Party is currently sold out, but if you are still interested in tickets - please go in and add your name to the wait list as we will be reviewing numbers over the next week and may have opportunities to open up to our wait list.  Tickets are still available for the Late Party but they are going fast!  We are looking forward to a BOO-tastic event! ��

PICTURE DAY - OCTOBER 9TH
REMINDER - School Picture Day is October 9th. Either fill out the enclosed order form (if you got one!) and return it to school with your child or you can order school pictures online at Coffee Pond. This year, if you order online there is no need to print your order or send in anything with your child. If you have any questions, please contact Paige Shockley at  [email protected]  or Wayne Zabel at  [email protected]  Don't forget your smiles!
NATIONAL WALK-BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY - OCTOBER 10TH
This coming Wednesday, please join children around the world to celebrate the benefits of walking and biking - promoting a healthy lifestyle, concern for the environment, reduced traffic congestion and an increased sense community here in Riverside. Green Committee volunteers will be on site at the school entrance to give students a green star for their effort, and cheer them on!
HIGH TOUCH-HIGH TECH'S NEWTON IN A NUTSHELL - 4TH GRADERS light_bulb_idea.jpg
This week, the forth grade classes had their first High Tough-High Tech program, "Power of Light".  They found out just how amazing light is with lots of fun activities. They learned that seeing is not always believing when it comes to light!

FLUORIDE RINSE PROGRAM
The fluoride rinse program, will  take place on Wednesday, October 10th for all students . Please have your children come to the cafeteria at drop off time if they  have returned their permission forms. Please remember to submit the fluoride permission forms if  you have not already done so. Volunteers will be there to assist them if there are any questions. If  you have any questions, please contact Jeannie Schnakenberg, RDH, at 622-3779.
OPEN HOUSE NIGHT - OCTOBER 11TH.
Our Open House Evening is Thursday, October 11th. Please note the following visitation times (and the start time for K-2)

Classroom Visits
6-6:45 pm -  Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade  classroom visits 
7:15-8 pm -  3rd, 4th, and 5th grade  classroom visits with the teacher

Specialist Visits
6:45-7:30 - Parents can visit any of our  specialist teachers  in their rooms to learn about the programs offered (P.E., Art, Music, Media,  FLES /Native, Special Education,  ESOL , Literacy/Reading and our Speech teacher as well as our School Psychologist). 

Please note that our ALP teachers will have  their Open House on another date (more information will follow from Mrs.  Mo zer  and Mrs. Hancock for those parents).

Are you considering your Kindergarten options for school year 2019-2020?  SAVE-THE-DATE for Greenwich Public Schools  Kindergarten Spotlight  on November 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Meeting Room to learn more about the GPS Kindergarten program.

Greg Tang will facilitate a Math Night for Parents on Tuesday,
October 16th  at  North Mianus from 6:00p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Greg will present for 
one  hou r followed by a question and answer period.  
 

Next Parent Night will be on March 12, 2019 at Glenville.
VACANCY IN D5 RTM - JOB OPPORTUNITY
The vacancy will be filled at the D5 RTM meeting to be held at Riverside School at 8pm on October 18th.  Anyone interested in running should attend the meeting. ODYSSEY OF THE MIND 
Is your school interested in becoming part of our vibrant 
Greenwich Odyssey of the Mind program? Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. 

This after school program is Ideal for all budding actors, writers, artists, singers, gizmo builders, creative and gifted kids. Learn 21st century skills, STEM programs and about the fun projects this year. Teams of 5-7 students (grades K-2, 3-5) will be formed based upon interest. Forms need to be collected in the offices at each school or through an interested parent/teacher coordinator. Coaches will also need to be found.  Teams will be formed at schools and a parent organizational meeting for each team will be mandatory for participation in the 2018- 2019 Odyssey program. Greenwich Odyssey of the Mind is part of the Reaching Out Grants Program through the Greenwich Alliance for Education.
