Greetings!
There is much for which to feel grateful. If you’re a sports fan, you can smile thinking back on the great season our hometown Twins provided this year, or you can feel great satisfaction for the season our Minnesota Golden Gopher football team is having, or for that matter, the Vikings too! For Lynx fans, and those who faithfully follow almost any Gophers women’s sport, there’s plenty of joy too.

The JFCS Annual Benefit: People ask us why we hire a comedian....
Here's why
Each year, Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis serves thousands of people in our community, our neighborhoods and our families. For the past 31 years, we have gathered for a special evening of fun, food and comedy to support the work of JFCS. And, each year, people ask us why we hire a comedian.

JFCS and PRISM’s leaders’ commentary on SNAP cuts
published in Star Tribune
JFCS’ Advocacy Committee works to raise awareness, further change, and/or advocate funding for mission-related issues that JFCS programs and services address. Food security is one of the committee’s focus areas. In light of recent cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), JFCS CEO Judy Halper and PRISM Executive Director Michelle Ness wrote a commentary that was published in the Star Tribune this month.

Did you know: Nov. 13 was World Kindness Day
By Leah Persky • Family Life Education Manager

On Nov. 13 World Kindness Day is celebrated around the world, but we believe every day should be World Kindness Day! We can all do our part to make someone else’s day, or use this as an excuse to be kind to ourselves.

While you probably have lots of ideas up your sleeve, here are a few to get you started. Remember, one small smile can create a big ripple effect and could be passed along all day!

National Caregiver Month: When people aren’t even
aware they are caregivers
By Annette Sandler • JFCS Aging Services Director

Do you help your mom grocery shop? Do you help balance your dad’s checkbook? Then you are a family caregiver.

A caregiver is an adult who provides unpaid care for the physical and emotional needs of a family member or friend who is ill, disabled or frail, according to the National Family Caregivers Association. November is National Caregiver Month.
