The Bishop's Letter
Dear Friends,
The tornadoes and severe thunderstorms last Friday tested our perseverance to deal with our environment and our abilities to cope. Without loss of life and six tornadoes later, many of us lost hydro, some lost or had damage to their homes, and there was much destruction. Thanks to the efforts of the  City of Ottawa HydroOttawa , and  HydroOne , agencies such as the  Red Cross  and the  Salvation Army , and countless acts of generosity and kindness on the part of many citizens of our communities, we ‘weathered the storm’ and discovered ourselves to be a resilient and loving community.
As people of faith in a loving God, we discovered the ability to respond to those in need, including ourselves. The City of Ottawa has offered many opportunities for people to volunteer ...more about how to help at this link Bishops_Tornado_help
Open Doors are
Opening Again!

Now that the scaffolding has been removed we will be reviving the Open Doors ministry beginning on Tuesday October 1st. Until we get more volunteers we will operate from Tuesday to Thursday, from 11.45 am to 1.15 pm. If you are a retiree or a student this is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer once a month on any day of your choosing. Not only is this a great chance to meet some new, interesting people who come to see our beautiful building or stop in to pray, it is also a terrific place to read in peace or catch up on some homework. A short training session will be offered in early October, including how to access the on-line sign-up schedule. If this ministry interests you, please contact Linda Clippingdale Lindaclippingdale@rogers.com
