Greetings,
It was a great "full" week here at Loyola Catholic School. Sandwiched between MEA break and next week, which is the end of the first quarter and a four day week, we were happy to have a full week for our teaching and learning. This is a very special time in our Catholic School as we celebrate the Feast of All Saints Day on Thursday. Friday is a no school day but it is a day of remembrance and All Souls Day. Please join us a the SSND Chapel next Thursday for All Saints Day Mass at 11am. Also, don't forget to join us for our Top20 Training on Thursday- 3:00-4:30pm.
I am extremely excited that our development office is taking shape. In this newsletter you will see we are welcoming another new person to our office. We are happy to welcome Matthew Fink back to Loyola as he is a Loyola graduate.
Congratulations to our boys cross country team as they have qualified for the State Tournament, which is next weekend. We will have a pep fest on Thursday, November 1 at 12:40pm. All are welcome!
Our football team is competing in the section semifinals tomorrow in Waterville at 2pm against W-E-M. Good luck to the Spartans!
Adding to the busyness of tomorrow is Trunk or Treat. The wonderful annual celebration is at 3pm on the Hill. We hope your family can make one of the two events tomorrow to help make them both successful for our school.
Parents/guardians: We have had quite a few instances where students are in the office in the afternoon, well after school has ended and are not getting picked up until a half-hour or longer after school. We understand in emergency situations that your child may have to stay longer and we can make accommodations for that. But, as much as it has happened up to this point and how many students it has been, we are going to have to start charging for extra care or find out if there is room in Clubhouse for your child. If you haven't made arrangements, please have your child picked up right after school. Thank you for your help.
Did you see the Facebook post for our ACT scores? If you aren't on Facebook like me, be sure to check out the information below. We are so proud of the good work our teachers and students continue to put forward. Thank you for your partnership in educating your children.

PS-12 Principal

Five Loyola students received the Great Promise Award from the Mankato Serra Club on Tuesday evening: Quinn Kelly, Christian Theuninck, Anders Winch, Andrew Wolff, and Jacqueline Fraze. These awards are given to students who recently finished sixth grade and have demonstrated a commitment to Christian values and show great promise as leaders through their example of service, compassion, and generosity.
The evening included Mass in the SSND Our Lady of Good Counsel chapel followed by dinner and awards ceremony.

NEW FAMILY CHECK-IN
Thank you to the new 7-12 families that joined us on Monday evening! It was great to "check-in" with you all!
From October 15 - November 1, 2018, we will be collecting clean, gently used winter gear to donate to SS Boutique. This is a competition between ALL grades from PS-12. Students in PS-6 can bring in gear to their classroom teachers. Students in 7-12 should donate gear to their advisory teachers. Whichever class donates the most will win a catered lunch!
How can you help?
We are looking to collect winter gear of ALL sizes! This includes winter coats, snow pants, boots, hats, and gloves. Each item you donate will earn your class a set of points:
Coats- 40 points
Snow pants-20 points
Boots-10 points
Hats-5 points
Gloves-5 points
What if you don't have gear?
If you are moved to help the cause but do not have any gear to donate, you may choose to instead give a monetary donation. In this case, the dollar value will be the points your class earns. $1 = 1 point
Please make sure that all gear being donated has been cleaned. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Honerman at
[email protected]
