The Fireplace Series continues in 2020! Join professors Laila Haidarali (Departments of Gender Studies & History) and Martin Hand (Department of Sociology) as they discuss how we look at our ourselves, how we look at others, and how we perform ourselves for visual consumption online in  Looking Online on  February 14.

Professors Haidarali and Hand aim to have an open-ended discussion about how cultures of beauty and the performance of self online and offline, and in particular how racial and gender identities are experienced, constructed, and deconstructed through various acts of looking, in an attempt to make links between the pre-digital and digital ages.

The event will take place in the Fireplace Reading Room in Stauffer Library. Tea will be served at 9:45am.
