Olivia Bowers, an Art History and Studio Art major, began work in the Kentucky Museum this year. While working on a variety of projects, she became fascinated with an object that most people don’t know is in the museum collections.
“The Senate Clerk’s Desk was a huge draw for me because, being an art historian particularly interested in functional pieces, I believe every piece of furniture, no matter how significant, has a story to tell," said Bowers, who conducted research on the desk in Washington, D.C., with WKU faculty member Guy Jordan. "I just wanted to be the one to tell the desk’s story. It’s a remarkable work of art that deserves a story.”
