Free Fun Friday at Historic Deerfield to Feature a Variety of Activities for all ages!
Deerfield, Mass. (July 20, 2018)--- Historic Deerfield will offer free admission to the museum on Friday, August 3, as a part of Free Fun Friday sponsored by the Highland Street Foundation. Since 2009, Free Fun Fridays have drawn more than a million participants to institutions in Massachusetts from art and historical museum and zoos to botanical gardens and state landmarks. This year, 100 cultural institutions across Massachusetts are participating in the program.

This year's Free Fun Friday event at Historic Deerfield will feature a variety of historic demonstrations, programs, and activities for all ages:
  • Historic House Visits
  • The Society of the 17th Century (historic re-enactment group)
  • Open Hearth Cooking Demonstration
  • Spinning Bee
  • Live Sheep and Cow Demonstration
  • Powder Horn Carving Demonstration
  • Basket Making Demonstration
  • Face Painting
  • Crafts: Make Your Own Flag!
  • Yo-Yo Skills Demonstrations from Yo-Yo Champion Elias Smith of Belchertown, MA
  • Applewood's Book Party
The museum will be open 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Upon arrival at the museum, visitors should stop at a ticketing center located along Old Main Street to receive a button for access to the museum for the day. For more information including a downloadable map, visit
