ANNOUNCEMENTS
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2018
  • If your student is taking the ACT this Saturday and needs a photo ID, have them come by Mrs. Smith's office in B hall to sign up to get one. Please make sure they have signed up no later than 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
  • Attention 8th graders: The Arkansas School for Math, Science, and Arts will host a Science and Engineering Institute at the U of A on Sat., Nov. 3 from 9:00 to 12:30.  Admission is free. To learn more or to register, go to tinyurl.com/SEI-Fayetteville.
  • Next week is German Week! Students should keep an eye out in the hallways for colorful, laminated gnomes. If they find one, they can take it to the office and exchange it for a German bar of chocolate. 
Each day will have a theme.
Monday: soccer jersey/German t-shirt day
Tuesday: German flag day (wear the colors of the German flag: black, red, yellow)
Wednesday: Hansel & Gretel day (dress like any character from the story: Dutch braids, pointy hat, etc.)
Thursday: hat day (wear a Germanesque hat or come get one from the 8th grade German students in B-9)
Friday: Einstein day (dress like an absent-minded genius: mismatch)
  • Camp War Eagle is now accepting camper applications for summer 2019 at  https://campwareagle.org/myozark.registration ! Dec. 15 is the deadline for early enrollment. Students who have met this deadline have a greater chance of placement into a session at Camp War Eagle. Although they continue to accept applications until the end of the school year, students applying after Dec. 15 have a significantly reduced chance of enrollment. If you have any questions or need a paper application, have your student see Ms. Schlabach in the choir room or email  [email protected] .
Round-Up Named a Crown Finalist

For the first time in publication history, The Round-Up has been named a Crown Finalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA). The Round-Up is one of only 12 middle schools or junior high schools in the country recognized by CSPA for this achievement.

Congratulations to Nicole Abram, Mia Kieklak, Hadley Humphry, Jaycee Petrone, yearbook adviser Mr. Andrew Young, and the rest of last year's yearbook staff! 

Two Woodland Students Make All-Region Orchestra

Congratulations to Abby Allison on horn and Olivia McGinnis on trumpet for making All Region Orchestra!

This is an extremely difficult audition as they competed against 160 other 8th and 9th grade students from all across western Arkansas.

Come watch them in their performance with the All Region Orchestra on Sat., Nov. 10 at Bentonville West High School.
Donate Your Pocket Change!

Bring your change for the United Way fundraiser! Woodland is holding a Change Wars fundraiser and contest benefiting United Way. 

Advisory classes are collecting change and dollar bills Wed., Oct. 24-Fri., Oct. 26. The advisory class that collects the most will win a prize!


Flu Shot Clinic

The Health Department will be giving flu shots to students Mon., Oct. 29. If you want your student to get a flu shot, please have them stop by Nurse Scott's office to pick up a flu shot form. You must complete the FERPA form AND the flu shot consent form and sign them both. Forms must be returned by Fri., Oct. 26.
