City Council Reorganization Meeting Tonight

You are invited to the City of Menlo Park’s City Council reorganization on Tuesday, December 17 at 7 pm . Please join Mayor Ray Mueller, Vice Mayor Cecilia Taylor, and City Councilmembers Catherine Carlton, Drew Combs, and Betsy Nash for the swearing in of the new City Councilmembers and selection of the next Mayor and Vice Mayor.

Major Construction Activities on U.S. 101 Express Lanes

During the month of December, major construction activities will continue on U.S. 101 express lanes from I-380 in San Bruno to the San Mateo County/Santa Clara County. This includes work in Menlo Park from the Santa Clara County border to US 101/ Whipple Avenue affecting freeway shoulders and median, freeway ramps and potentially local city streets adjacent to the freeway. Minor activities will also occur north of Whipple Avenue on the freeway.

Overnight Parking Enforcement Deferred for the Holidays

The City would like residents and their guests to enjoy suspended residential overnight parking enforcement. We understand that many residents are expecting guests from out of town and hosting events during the holiday season. As a courtesy, the overnight parking ordinance will not be enforced beginning Friday morning, December 20, 2019, through Thursday morning, January 2, 2020 .

Test Drive an Induction Cooktop with New Loaner Program

The City Council approved a groundbreaking local energy ordinance September 24, 2019, that requires all new buildings to be electric (with some exceptions) and becomes effective January 1, 2020 . The Reach Codes sparked many discussions among Peninsula residents and encouraged many to learn more about induction cooktops.

Now, Acterra, a nonprofit based in Palo Alto, has created an Induction Cooktop Loaner Program for Bay Area residents to borrow portable induction cooktops. Participants can borrow them FREE for up to three weeks.

It's a Wonderful Nutcracker blends the magic and wonder of a traditional Nutcracker with the heartwarming message from Frank Capra's 1940's film, It's a Wonderful Life, The result brings two of the world's most heralded holiday classics together in a clever way that is warm, funny and uniquely entertaining.

Since its premiere in 2015, It's a Wonderful Nutcracker has been embraced for its warmth, humor, and original blending of two classic tales. Adults appreciate the ballet’s world-class dancing, while children perch on their seats as dancing dolls magically appear, toy soldiers battle mischievous mice, snowflakes swirl, and a beautiful angel emerges.
