Discovery Services Programs Host Open Houses
Radford and Roanoke Programs Complete Facility Renovations
 
Discovery Services programs in both Radford and Roanoke held Open Houses to celebrate the opening of their newly renovated spaces in August. During the dedication ceremonies the improvements to the facilities were highlighted as well as how the individuals in the programs will benefit from the changes, recognition of funders and the hard work of staff that made it all possible.

Changes for Goodwill Stores in Staunton & Altavista
Enhanced Shopping Experiences Benefit Two Communities

September brought changes to two Goodwill Retail Stores. The Staunton Store relocated to a standalone building across the street from the old store, and the Altavista Goodwill Store transitioned operations from Goodwill Industries of South Central Virginia, the independent Goodwill serving Danville and the surrounding area, to our Goodwill, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys.

Goodwill Receives Grant to Help People After Incarceration
GoodStart Re-Entry Program to Expand in Roanoke

Goodwill knows that individuals who have formerly been incarcerated can turn their lives around and be productive employees. A grant from U.S. Department of Labor will allow Goodwill to assist more individuals in Roanoke over the next three years. The program will provide training for in-demand jobs in fields such as Advanced Manufacturing and Information Technology that will enable individuals to earn credentials in order to be competitive in today's labor market.
Working for Independence Fundraising Breakfast
Breakfast Event Held to Help Fund Programs

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys hosted the 5th Annual Working for Independence Fundraising Breakfast on Thursday, October 18th at the Hotel Roanoke. More than 220 people attended the event, which highlighted the impact that donors to Goodwill are having on the lives of individuals in our community. This year's event theme was "Their Stories Continue..." and highlighted the successes of Ozzy, Devin, and Shannon who previously participated in Goodwill training and employment programs.
