KIDS & TEENS - MONTHLY READER September 2018
Protect the First Amendment - Read Banned Books!
Are older people often telling you how different today is from when they were younger? That's because today's kids and teens are part of the first generation to grown up never knowing a day without the internet or cell phones, where connecting with the world and information is possible with just one click.

One thing that is not different is that stories have been banned since, well, forever. Now that it is easier to connect with others, it is more important than ever that we make our voices heard; that, as Americans and book lovers, we practice the First Amendment every day by reading and speaking out about the books that others would try to silence.

Banned Books Week begins on September 23, but Eagle Harbor Books will be featuring these silenced stories all month long.

Educator Night
at Eagle Harbor Books

Eagle Harbor Book Company will celebrate a night out with educators on Thursday, Sept., 20, starting at 6pm. We want to welcome teachers, administrators, home-schoolers, and friends for a get together to share ways we hope to help the school community on Bainbridge.

We'll have food and drink as we talk about our offerings for schools: educator discounts, author visits, help in finding books for curriculum, in-store book fairs, and more. We will introduce our new manager of the Children's and Young Adult sections, Jenna DeTrapani, who is ready to partner with you for innovative programs. We'll have some swag for the classroom, and tell you about the programs we have for kids during the school year and beyond.

We will be here to answer any questions you might have on how we can partner with you!
