Two time-sensitive alerts for you...

Alert #1:

Companies with vehicles operating in or traveling to the New York City area are advised to prepare for longer travel times due to a recent escalation of enforcement activity at critical infrastructure points within the metropolitan area.  

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called for the stepped-up enforcement following recent cases of explosive devices found at three New York locations. One hundred National Guard soldiers have been deployed and security has been doubled at the following key infrastructure points in and around the city:

* LaGuardia Airport
* JFK Airport
* Mass transit systems
* All Staten Island crossings
* George Washington Bridge
* RFK Bridge
* Verrazano-Narrows Bridge
* Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
* Throgs Neck Bridge
* Henry Hudson Bridge
* Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge
* Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge
* Mario M. Cuomo Bridges
* Lincoln Tunnel
* Holland Tunnel
* Hugh L. Carey Tunnel
* Queens Midtown Tunnel

Alert #2

The Fuel Tax Exemption bill, S-1697/A-128 outlined below, is scheduled to be considered before the members of the General Assembly on this Monday, October 29th. 

S-1697 passed the Senate unanimously back in April of this year and we are hoping the Assembly will help move this legislation even further. 
We are asking our members to write or call their legislators in support of this bill.

S-1697/A-128 (Sarlo/Oroho/DeAngelo/Lagana/Space) Exempts fuel used for operation of certain school buses from petroleum products gross receipts tax and motor fuel tax; clarifies tax treatment of certain dyed fuel thereunder; clarifies determination of taxable estates of certain decedents.
