The Great Balancing Act
Here are 5 tips to help when you are pulled too far out of balance
Welcome fall and all its beauty. The gold and red leaves against a stunning Colorado blue sky, summon the feeling of change. With fall, we surrender the chaos of summer and settle into routine and finding a sense of balance. This balance is demonstrated with the fall equinox, one of two days each year where the world experiences equal parts day and night, each 12 hours. The perfect balance.

When our lives are in balance we can feel calm, grounded, clear-headed, and motivated. Who doesn't want that! Often, the pressures of work, relationships and life, pull us out of alignment where we are spending too much time and energy in one area and neglecting others. Has work taken over your workout? Have groceries and laundry replaced time with friends or a good book? When will you ever finish that degree? Exhaustion, frustration and depressed feelings can set in. If this sounds familiar it is time to realign.

How long have you been at Jefferson
Center?

I started at Jefferson Center in October of 2001 as the Medical Director, so I have been here for about 17 years. Prior to Jefferson Center, I had been on the full-time staff at the University of Colorado as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry for another 17 years.

How would you say Jefferson Center has changed during your 17 years here?

The Center has changed quite a lot since I started 17 years ago. For one, it's much larger now - I believe we had around 300 staff members when I started, and now we're close to 650 at this point.
Show your Support on Colorado Gives Day!
Donations can be scheduled beginning November 1st
Get ready - Colorado's largest 24-hour online giving event is coming up and we need your support!

On Tuesday, December 4, thousands of donors across the state, country and world will come together to support nonprofits throughout Colorado. Last year, $36 million was raised for Colorado nonprofits, and over $19,000 for Jefferson Center alone! We are hoping to surpass that amount this year with your help.

Uniquely on Colorado Gives Day, each nonprofit that receives a donation is granted a portion of the $1 Million Incentive Fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated. Any gifts scheduled ahead for Colorado Gives Day count toward our total, too!

Take a look at our donation page on ColoradoGives.org , and mark your calendars! Donations can be scheduled for Colorado Gives Day as early as November 1.

Thank you for your generosity - your support helps us provide programs and services, inspire hope, improve lives, and strengthen our community.
Another Successful Helping Kids Thrive!
Over 300 parents, and caregivers filled Creighton Middle School classrooms on Wednesday, October 3, for the 28th annual Helping Kids Thrive parent conference!

One parent shared, "Thank you for organizing this wonderful event! I have been struggling with my teenager and this conference has given me the tools I need to help with her anxiety and lack of self-esteem. Thank you!"

Thanks to our sponsors and hosting organizations who help make this event possible - Jeffco PTA, Jeffco Public Schools, Netsmart Technologies, SCL Health Lutheran, Tolin Mechanical
