Client Success Story:  Resilience
A Beautiful View

Jon Geiman is the founder and owner of  A Beautiful View  in Redding, a window and gutter cleaning service for both business and residential. With over 25 years of window cleaning experience he has a passion to work hard and do everything with quality and excellence.  On his website he states:

"To us, a job is never complete unless you are 100% happy with the work we've done"

Unfortunately, hard work and excellence don't always mean a business will never face hardships.
When the Carr fire struck in late 2018 Geiman, along with most of the North State, was impacted due to the loss sales when small businesses cut back on what was perceived as unnecessary services. Geiman was making due but was looking for some breathing room to recover quickly.

Geiman met with SBDC advisor and loan specialist Joe Rodola to discuss how his business could thrive despite the economic downturn. Joe recommended Jon apply for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) from the SBA. Since the Carr fire was officially declared a disaster, the SBA was able to offer these specialized loans to those who qualified. With help from Joe and the SBDC, Geiman applied for the loan, and he continued to receive assistance with all the required paperwork throughout the process.

Geiman was finally able to secure an $18,700.00 loan under the EIDL program, which got him through the slow times and help him gain momentum as his business recovered. With the much needed funds, Geiman was also able to confidently retain 2 jobs that were at risk.

Geiman said, "With Joe's help in making sure that all of my documentation was sent into the SBA for the loan application, I was able to get an $18,700.00 low interest rate loan from the SBA. Thanks Joe for all of your help."

The Carr fire hit the North State hard, but our community hit back even harder: we continue to recover, and even gain ground over where we were prior to the disaster. For other inspirational stories, visit: https://www.norcalsbdc.org/results/success-stories
