If you have been thinking about writing your memoirs but don't know how or where to get started, this Zoom class is for you! During sessions, each participant will share their 500-word essay assigned during the prior session. Writing takes place at home, and stories will be read and discussed during class time. This ongoing course meets the second and fourth Monday of the month, 10:30 a.m. - noon. To register, call the library at 410-822-1626. Upon registration you will receive a Zoom invitation and a writing assignment which will be read and discussed during your first session.

A Talbot County Master Gardener Program
Join Talbot County Master Gardener volunteer Mikaela Boley for a free virtual screening of SEED: The Untold Story as we explore the importance of seeds, preservation of biodiversity, and the impacts on our environment. The film will be followed by discussion and participant Q&A as we discuss highlights from the film.
Few things on Earth are as miraculous and vital as seeds. Worshipped and treasured since the dawn of humankind. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. SEED: The Untold Story follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy.
Mikaela will also answer questions regarding the Talbot County Free Seed Library, a community resource in partnership with the Talbot County Free Library. Through our seed library, we offer additional programs, information, and a free source of seeds for home gardens. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Only 200 participants.

Join us for a warm, winter Cooking Demo with Chef John, an absolute Harford County favorite, chef, author, television personality, and owner of the celebrated Gertrude's Restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art. He'll prepare two dishes - Alva Crockett's Tangier Island 50 Clam Chowder (from Chesapeake Bay Cooking with John Shields) and an Apple Crepe Cake (from The New Chesapeake Kitchen). John is often called "The Culinary Ambassador of the Chesapeake Bay," and he has written four popular cookbooks on the cuisine of the region. In the fifteen years since their teenage son, Ray-Ray, was killed in a police shooting, the Echota family has been suspended in private grief. With the family’s annual bonfire approaching - an occasion marking both the Cherokee National Holiday and Ray-Ray’s death, and a rare moment in which they openly talk about his memory - the mother, Maria, attempts to call the family together from their physical and emotional distances once more.
Drawing deeply on Cherokee folklore, The Removed seamlessly blends the real and spiritual to excavate the deep reverberations of trauma - a meditation on family, grief, home, and the power of stories on both a personal and ancestral level.
Brandon Hobson is the author of the novel Where the Dead Sit Talking, which was a finalist for the 2018 National Book Award for Fiction and winner of the Reading the West Book Award. His other books include Desolation of Avenues Untold and the novella Deep Ellum. His work has appeared in the Pushcart Prize anthology, The Believer, the Paris Review Daily, Conjunctions, NOON, and McSweeney’s, among other places. He is an assistant professor of creative writing at New Mexico State University and teaches in the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Hobson is an enrolled citizen of the Cherokee Nation Tribe of Oklahoma.

Women played a large, but rarely told, role in WWII cryptology. College women were recruited from math departments at colleges around the country to learn cryptanalysis. Thousands of other women joining the Army and Navy were assigned to code work operating machines that broke enemy codes or transmitting coded messages to Washington. This is their story. Silberman introduces Maryland's most tenacious and adventurous women in this virtual program presented through Zoom webinar. Looking for a fun family activity for St. Patrick's Day? Stop by and pick up an Art Collage Kit-to-Go during Books-to-Go hours. Available while supplies last at both Easton and St. Michaels.
Included in each kit are items to be collaged (paper to make cards and bookmarks, large felt & foam shapes), along with materials to be glued (various tissue papers, fiber yarns, pom-poms, small foam shapes, & stickers). A glue stick, pencils, & crayons are also included. Please use adult supervision with young children. Includes enough materials for the entire family, so one per family please.

AARP TAX-AIDE TAX PREPARATION UPDATE
No in-person appointments for AARP Tax-Aide tax preparation are currently being offered at the Talbot County Free Library in Easton. The Covid-19 pandemic status in Talbot and surrounding counties prevents offering the normal in-person tax preparation service for both current and prior tax years.
Free online tax preparation options are available nationally through the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide here and the Internal Revenue Service website here.
Option 1: Prepare your own individual tax return by downloading one of the tax software applications to a personal computer. OR
Option 2: Computer-scan your tax information for a tax-aide volunteer to prepare your returns virtually.
There may be a separate charge for the Maryland return. For general information, call the toll-free number at 877-434-7598.
The Internal Revenue Service offers free tax preparation through its website at www.irs.gov/freefile. Software will need to downloaded from the website to prepare a return.

The Talbot County Health Department continues to receive 300 doses of Moderna vaccine each week for Talbot County Health Department's first-dose clinics. Additionally, we have scheduled vaccine clinics throughout the county, beginning with St. Michaels and to be continued in Cordova, Trappe, Oxford, and Tilghman.
The Talbot County Health Department is currently reaching out to the highest risk individuals within Maryland's 1B eligibility category, including individuals aged 80 years and older, to schedule limited appointments at our upcoming vaccine clinics.
When demand for Phase 1B has been met, we will proceed to Phase 1C. The timing of this is dependent upon the supply of vaccines received each week by Talbot County Health Department, which is highly variable, and the number of eligible recipients interested in being vaccinated.
As a reminder, the health department is required to prioritize and continues to provide vaccinations to the following groups in Phase 1B:

Individuals 75-years and Older - vaccinations at outreach and mass clinics continue. First doses received to date: 1,500 individuals aged 75-84, or 43% of Talbot's 75-84-year-old population of 3,500; 756 individuals aged 85+, or 50.4% of Talbot's 85+-year-old population of 1,500

We are administering the second dose of the vaccination to those individuals who received their first doses with us four weeks ago. If you received your first vaccine dose from a provider other than the health department, that provider is responsible for administering your second dose.
The Talbot County Health Department is working with community partners to provide transportation for vaccinations to seniors in need. We are hosting clinics in municipalities throughout the county to increase accessibility for all county residents.
Other providers in Talbot County and elsewhere are also hosting vaccine clinics. You may sign up or pre-register with these providers as well. More information is available at https://bit.ly/marylandvaccines.
