Hello Region 4! We hope that you have had a great year thus far. We would like to say thank you for the important work that you do in providing opportunities to students through quality Career and Technical Education. We have included a few updates and upcoming professional development opportunities in the spring newsletter.
CTEIG Updates:
 
Middle School Survey - Region 4

CDE has asked each of the CTEIG Regional Technical Assistance Providers (RTAPS) to survey all middle schools within their region regarding CTE. The survey was sent out on April 11, 2018 to Region 4 principals of middle schools, junior highs, and elementary schools that have 7th & 8th grade students. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey, we look forward to the feedback!
CTEIG Round 3 Allocations Were Approved

CTEIG Round 3 allocations were approved during the SBE March meeting. GAN letters will be sent out to Superintendents at the end of April to early May. The funding process for CTEIG recipients will not initiate until GANS are signed and returned.

CA Legislative Update
 
Assembly Bill 1743 (O'Donnell) extends CTE Incentive Grant. Please click here for additional details.
  • Provides $500 Million annually with a one-to-one local match
  • Provides opportunities for leadership development
  • Supports local flexibility, control and LCFF priorities
  • Continues support for regional-based technical assistance for grantees
Professional Development:

NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program
May 16 - 18, 2018

This training will provide participants with the required instruction and materials needed to become an effective certified NCCER instructor. Qualifications to participate: California Career Tech Instructor with at least one of the following: Experience at a minimum journey or technical level in their area of expertise OR a minimum of three years experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance related training program.

The training will take place at the Office of Fresno County Superintendent of Schools - CTE/ROP Department located at 1318 East Shaw Avenue in Fresno, CA 93710-7912. With successful completion of the training,  you will receive:
  • NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program materials ($75 value)
  • 24 Hardcover Student Trainee Books ($1,368 value)
  • Instructor Trainee Books ($54 value)
  • NCCER Craft Instructor Certification
  • A working lunch on May 16, 17 and 18 ($33 value)
  • Substitute Reimbursement (up to $120 per day)
