From the Principal
Dear Parents:
As you know, our school building sustained major water damage due to pipes that burst during Winter Storm Uri. We are in clean up mode, and our landlord has a restoration company on site. However, the school will likely not be ready for students for another six to eight weeks at minimum since the gym floor, carpets, cabinets, and drywall must be torn out and replaced in the bulk of the downstairs.
We know that remote instruction is not the best option for most of our students and that this is a strain on our families. We are currently packing the school and searching for a temporary location to house us so that we can get back to in-person instruction as quickly as possible. We have a lead on a space and hope to have more information early next week to share with you. The Texas Education Agency has given us a waiver to have remote instruction through March 12, but we are trying our hardest to get the students back on a campus before spring break. However, please be prepared to stay remote until spring break if necessary.
I am including several pictures so you can see how our school building looks and why we cannot have students on campus for a long time. We hope to be together again soon on yet another adventure. We will keep you posted on our progress, and we will move from remote to in-person as soon as we can.
We thank the parents for rallying behind us and responding to our requests with boxes, tape, and great food, but also loving us enough to check in on us. Our students remain our priority. Because COVID protocols are still in place, we have had to do all the work ourselves. It has been a reminder of the role you all play in our school, and we miss you.
Our story continues, and we will keep you posted.
Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon
