All Saints' Sunday - November 4, 2018

All Saints Sunday is a time of reflection and celebration, as we remember those who have died. We will be collecting their names for the All Saints Book of Remembrance. If you would like to have the name of someone who has died since last year's All Saints Day services read during this year's services, please be sure to add his or her name to the book, which will be available in the weeks leading up to All Saints Sunday, on November 4.

RenewalWorks

The singular emphasis on love of God and neighbor provides the foundation for RenewalWorks, a ministry in the Episcopal Church that focuses on spiritual growth by deepening love of God and neighbor in the lives of congregations, in the lives of ministries that animate those congregations, and in the lives of the individuals who bring life to those ministries.

We are using the RenewalWorks to evaluate our members and our congregation and make plans for the future.  The first step in this process is the congregational survey. Please take a few minutes out of your schedule to use the link below and answer questions about your spiritual life and your life at Christ Church. We will use this information with a team of parishioners to determine strategies and plans to improve our spiritual vitality. The link can be found here .  Each person in a household over the age of 16 is encouraged to take the survey. If this work sounds interesting to you, and you'd like to be a part of the parish RenewalWorks team, please email Father Tom at [email protected].

"St. Jazz" Choral Jazz Pilgrimage 2018

Dear Christ Church family,

Four members of the Christ Church music team, Kathleen Turner, Mary Helen Moses, Misty Renard-Laskowski and I, will be in Havana, Cuba November 8-12 participating in a choral jazz pilgrimage. We will be part of a group of 22 singers-musicians from Episcopal Churches in six states and DC. Organized by St. John's Church, Lafayette Square in Washington, DC, our group, in combination with local Cuban musicians, will be performing a Jazz Mass and additional musical offerings at the Episcopal Cathedral in Havana that Sunday morning in celebration of the  re-admission of the Episcopal Church of Cuba as a diocese of The Episcopal Church.

As an adjunct to our trip, we are each being asked to bring an additional suitcase containing much needed supplies such as candles for liturgies, soap, towels and vitamins. The Diocese of Cuba has specifically asked the team from the US to bring enough water filters to purify over two million gallons of water. I am attaching a write-up here which describes the efforts of the Episcopal Church to provide drinking water in Cuba and the request from the Bishop. To see a video explaining the water purification project click here.

We are each paying our own expenses for the trip but would welcome monetary contributions to help purchase additional water purification systems and other supplies. Anyone wishing to help may do so by writing a check to Christ Church with Cuba on the memo line.  We thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Yours in Christ,

Te Turner
