Picture Re-Take Day
Tuesday, October 30th
Order Forms are available in the Office.

Parking Spaces
Please remember to park in open spaces only.  We know it's tempting to want to park in an open staff space, but please remember those spots are reserved for staff and are needed everyday.  All reserved spaces are clearly marked.  Also, please be respectful and do not park in the Auction Winner space.  That spot was purchased by a lucky MW family and is for their use only.

Thank you!

October is Creek Safety Month

In support of the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District's ongoing efforts to educate the public on creek and channel safety, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors has once again declared this October as Creek and Channel Safety Awareness Month.

This annual campaign is to remind us that we must become aware of the seasonal dangers around us and take the necessary steps to educate ourselves and our children to avoid them.

For more information see the attached flyer or visit www.cccounty.us/creekandchannelsafety

Company Matching

Murwood PTA, a non-profit, would love to receive matching funds from companies.  If you have donated to us, your company might match your donation.  Check with your Human Resources department if they have a program and how to proceed.  All money received by the PTA helps our school, such as providing awards for our upcoming pumpkin contest.
Pies!  Pies! Pies!

Murwood Elementary is selling pies for a fundraiser  to help support Murwood PTA.

This year, the Murwood PTA is partnering with the Bay Area Rescue Mission to provide dessert to hurting and homeless men, women, and children in the Bay Area. The goal of the Rescue Mission's Food Pantry & Distribution Center is to keep people from becoming homeless by distributing food, clothing, furniture and other household items. They provide over 750,000 meals annually for the homeless and their shelter guests. Approximately 75 of our Pumpkin Pies will provide for just one day of desserts. Please consider making this holiday season special for those less fortunate.

You can also check the PTA website and  can see all the flavors and will purchase pies online.  The flyers were sent on in the Wednesday folders on October 3rd.
Walnut Creek Education Foundation (WCEF)

Get Ready to run the Turkey Trot
With a kid run, 10K and 5K options, the Forma Gym Turkey Trot is an event the entire family will enjoy. No training required! A longtime supporter of our schools, did you know Forma Gym donated $21,500 to WCEF from proceeds last year?   Register here.

Maybe you're not a runner, but an excellent cheerleader?! We could use you (or your teenager) to volunteer leading up to the Turkey Trot and on Thanksgiving morning.  Sign up and volunteer!

The WCEF Phone-a-thon is coming!
In an effort to reach out to our parent community, we will be calling families who have not yet donated on October 29 and 30. You can "avoid a call" and donate today .

Already a superhero and donated, but want to help? The Phone-a-thon is a great way to get involved with WCEF and increase participation towards reaching our $1.2 million goal. We will take whatever time you have, 20, 45 or 60 minutes. To sign up click here . After all, great schools don't just happen.
