A Message from the President
The long days of summer are about to start cooling as we look forward to the crisp days of Fall. The Hispanic 100 is diligently working on delivering on our mission, to continue building the value of the organization, and delivering support for community organizations.

We are extremely proud of, and at the same time saddened, at the departure of one of the bright stars in our community, Mercedes Olivera. She was both a beacon of revealing light and the encouraging voice when it came to highlighting the much needed inclusion and contributions of Hispanics in the Dallas/Ft Worth community and abroad.
It is with delight that the Latina Living Legend committee chose Mercedes Olivera as this year’s Legend. Although she is no longer with us, we must highlight and celebrate her contribution and love for this community.  There have been very few voices, in this area, like hers. Mercedes was the Hispanic voice on television, the voice in print at the Dallas Morning News, and the voice in the classroom at TCU and SMU. As they say, she was the original triple threat.

We will miss her and hope that you will join us to celebrate the legacy that she left in our community and her far-reaching impact. Through the celebration we will make a substantial contribution to the Endowment Fund.

The highlight of this summer’s activities for The Hispanic 100 has been the Endowment Grant cycle, led by Lucinda Rocha, President-Elect. We continue to make significant contribution to the endowment fund while providing much needed support to the non-profit organizations that serve our community of Hispanic women and girls.

I look forward to seeing both H100 members and supporters at the 2018 Latina Living Legend Celebration on September 13th at 3015 at Trinity Groves. Together is the way we make a difference and how the Hispanic voice is heard.

Hasta pronto,

Patricia Rodriguez Christian
2018 Hispanic 100 President
