Public Works Alert: Roadway Resurfacing Project
Residents within portions of Cutler Ridge (Sections 3, 4, 5), South Coral Homes (Sections 1 & 2), and Old Cutler Cove (Sections 1 & 2) will soon see improvements to the roadways in their neighborhood. Some of these roadways have not been repaved in many years and exhibit a high degree of pavement distress.

The Town’s consulting engineer completed a Town-wide Sidewalk and Roadway Assessment Report. Roadways in the neighborhoods listed above have been identified to be in poor condition and were selected by Town staff to be part of the Town’s People's Transportation Plan (PTP) VI Roadway Resurfacing Project. Funding for the project is being provided by the Town’s portion of the PTP Municipal allocation (1/2 Penny Transit Surtax proceeds).

The Roadway resurfacing improvements will enhance your neighborhood and improve drivability. Project will include milling of existing asphalt, placement of 1” Type S-III Asphalt Concrete Surface Course, adjustment of valve boxes and manholes, installation of raised pavement markers, placement of 24” thermoplastic stop bars with double yellow striping, and sidewalk repairs.

Construction is tentatively scheduled to commence in July 2020 and will be completed in approximately 10 weeks. Access to local roads will be maintained during construction however, traffic patterns in the area may be altered as the project progresses.

On June 1, construction on the Franjo Park Restoration and Improvements Project officially kicked off with the ceremonial groundbreaking.

Mayor Tim Meerbott and Council Members Roger Coriat and BJ Duncan visited the park where they met with representatives from Stantec and Stonehenge Construction—who designed and are constructing the park's makeover, respectively—as well as with Town Manager Rafael Casals and Parks Director Etienne Bejarano to go over the project and tour the site where construction has already begun. The project should be completed in approximately 10 months from now.

The project will see the restoration of the park’s baseball fields and three buildings, which include:
  • NEW LED Sports Lighting System (Completed)
  • NEW Shade Structure Canopies
  • NEW Dugouts, Backstops, & Foul Ball Fencing
  • NEW Drainage System Between Fields
  • NEW Perimeter Fencing
  • NEW Bermuda Sod in Athletic Field
  • NEW Sidewalks Around Concession Area & Common Areas
  • Upgrading Community Room & Offices
  • Upgrading Restroom Facilities
  • Upgrading Concession Stand Facilities
  • Laser Grading Clay Infields

Although this project has had several setbacks that extended the original project timeline ( click here to read more about that), once completed, we will have a better than ever, state-of-the-art baseball field which we look forward to renewing with the energy, spirit and tradition it once had!
