“ For every minute you are angry you lose 60 seconds of happiness”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Demitasse Repertory Theater is dedicated to assisting humanity in distress in small and humble ways. Our body of work includes books, plays, psychotronic films, poems, short stories, and music. We present these works in the hope that it will transform your view of yourself and the world for the better. After all, Society is simply a collection of all our individual thoughts and actions. We hope when you view our body of work that it will have the ability to reach your heart, mind, and souls. This is especially true today as our nation finds itself in the midst of a pandemic and civil unrest. Yes, such events make us angry, make us fearful, make us want to strike out, and often times makes us doubt the state of our humanity.

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom”
Marcel Proust

In these challenges days as anger has usurped discourse, maybe we should look to what the Stoics called ataraxia- simply the tranquility of the mind. Most people will agree a decent human life is about the cultivation of one’s character and concern for our fellow humanity. Modern cognitive science has repeatedly shown that we are often prey to cognitive biases and delusions. Philosophy and religions are united in their quest to teach us how to behave better in a chaotic and to a degree hostile world.

“There is no path to happiness...happiness is the path”
Gautoma Buddha

In closing, I will leave you with a reading of my poem, Sun Stones , performed by Susan Bond, in the hope this work will shed a little light, happiness, and peace into our current chaotic times.
