American Flag
Ceremony

Millhopper Montessori School will hold an American flag ceremony at the school on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 to commemorate Patriot Day and to recognize the services provided by the school's Safety Patrol. The flag is being gifted to the school to celebrate their 40th anniversary this past school year.

The Safety Patrol members from the 2017-2018 school year will ceremonially pass the flag on to this year's Safety Patrol members. The flag was acquired when last year's Safety Patrol visited the U.S. Capital as part of the Alachua County schools' Safety Patrol tour over the summer. By request through Senator Bill Nelson, the flag was flown for the 1st and only time above the U.S. Capital on June 5, 2018, the last full day of MMS' Safety Patrol tour. The flag will be flown over the school for the second time ever during the ceremony.
